You hardly find any skaters any more who skate with this kind of artistry, perhaps Hanju, but only hardly. Today they are much too busy packing theit programs with quadruples and quadruple-triple combinations and chasing one highly difficult element after the next (even the women). I think this causes artistry to fall by the wayside, or to be limited to waving your arms about in a theatrical fashion...No, those programs are not nice to watch any more... BTW, John Curry was also the mentor of Katherine Healy (who later married skating coach Peter Burrows), and he encouraged her to turn pro when she was all but eleven - probably thereby succeeding in saving the artistry she undoubtedly did have (she was a ballerina too for many years, and always followed her heart in terms of the form of artistic expression she chose).
@@annettewilliams1932 Yes I noticed it used to be a staple with skaters for some time...The first time I ever heard that tune being skated to was when I saw my very first Holiday on Ice show at age five - the footage of that particular show is still on here somewhere, with Rick Inglesi (later coach of Rudy Galindo skating Spartacus). I guess that tune just stuck with me fir that reason...
@@christianealshut1123 Yes you only have to compare his beautifully centred camel at 3.25 to today's messes. Kamila Valieva's camel in the 2022 Olympics moved nearly a METRE while she spun.
