In this interview, John David Blair recalls his experiences in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. He describes his early life; his father had been at Pearl Harbor and his mother was a hula dancer. He relates conditions there. He becomes emotional as he describes the Battle of Mike’s Hill and the loss of comrades. He was awarded the Silver Star. He tells of his homecoming experience, when he was called a "baby killer." He spent the remainder of his service at Parris Island as a drill instructor. He tells of reunions and of visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and gives his philosophy of war.

I don’t think my comments will do this gentleman justice but Mr. Blair’s relating of his experience was very powerful; straightforward and raw. And I liked Mr. Galloway’s handling of it; his questions got to the heart of the matter. Thank you.

So all know; Joe Galloway (The interviewer.) fought for his life and his fellow American's lives, as a civilian correspondent at the Battle of Ia Drang, LZ-XRay, in 1965 with the Seventh US Cavalry.

I watch an interview with Hal Moore and he said he knew Joe was different when he got off the chopper and saw this reporter walking up to him that night and saw him with camera bag on one shoulder and an m-16 on the other another fun fact he got his rifle from Charles Beckwith and I used to see charging Charlie around town when I was younger the most intimidating man I have ever met in my life but also the kindest man I have ever met.

Why did they cut him off when he started to relate killing his first 2 NVA soldiers? I felt like they were censoring him and I quit watching it soon after... and yes I know who Joe Galloway is and I found his voice and interviewing style annoying

Watch the segment again, just as he stated killing his first NVA, he turned startled, looking distraught and said, “ Is there somebody there?” It seemed obvious that he did not want them to hear what he was about to say. Imagine a grandchild or such. Many of these interviews are done in the home. Later in the video he returns to the event and relates the story. No censoring.

I don’t think you understand everything going on he was not censored. There was interruption not bother interviewer. Joe Galloway is pretty straight man. Do your homework on him. I think you will be impressed as most of us are
