@@PaulFarrell04 well thank you. That means a lot. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I figured I'm gonna be out doing this stuff anyway, so might as well video it and post it so folks can either learn a trick or 2 or just make fun of how I talk or something like that. Lol
She's been doing great up until about 5 days ago when she blew a head gasket. I pulled the head only to discover the block needs to be decked, so I'm trying to stick a temporary engine together as a "get me by" and I managed to catch COVID on day 2 of that disaster.
I have been watching your videos I think you do good work and I was wanting to know if there is like any requirements for getting into what you do iv always wanted to do welding repairs on heavy equipment but there is little to no info on what is required. As for certifications or legal stuff. I know every state is different.
Thsnk you and thank you for watching. As far as I know, there are no requirements in my state, but I am 6G certified on 6" schedule 40 carbon steel pipe since it's a decent "blanket certification". I started out in a rock quarry doing maintenance welding then a structural steel fab shop then moved on to a general welding repair/fab shop then on to a big construction company's equipment repair shop. I ended up back at the general welding repair shop, but I learned lots of new things at each place and gained experience in what works, what doesn't, and I figured out how to make most things stay fixed. If I were you, I'd find a shop that fixes heavy equipment, get a job there, and learn as much as possible from their best guy before going out on my own. Can't be sure you're doing things correctly if you've got no experience. I hope that helped and I wish you luck
