I have a 1971 model 4320 tractor that has a engine out of a 6600 combine installed in it. I bought it that way, would of loved to seen the transfer. It runs 140 hp on the dyno.
i plan on doing this exact project with my '70 4020 gas, wiht the engine out of a 7720 combine.. Great insight on how to start the project. once you get the cheat sheet you will have to get it to me ha
Some questions on the radiator fit. I'm currently fitting a 7700 Turbo engine in a early 4020 Diesel that threw a rod and wrecked 90% of the original motor. I'm at the point where I'm checking the radiator fit. The combine w/p shaft comes out right against the rad core. Did you have to shorten the shaft and water pump hub?. Also the lower radiator hose connection to modified crank pulley is very tight...hose will rub...did you have to alter the lower rad connection?
On this one the water pump pulley doesn’t collide bugg t if heard of guys pushing then on but just remember your belt needs to line up with on fog the grooved. I believe the front. As the lower water pipe dad did have it moved out like a half inch. My 4010 didn’t need moved
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 The water pump variation I have has a longer than normal pulley hub and shaft. I'll have to shorten both by 3/4" or so. Thanks for the radiator tip...if the lower connection were tipped to the outside the hose would clear. That's a very professional job done on your tractor. The one here will end up non turbo with the fuel cut back to 90 HP or so. It's main job will be to pull a Rowse D-9 mower in the summer.
@@greatnorthernn-3154 I think we used the tractor pulley but left the hun and shaft as is. If I do another as stated I. The comments I want to use a 2940 fan and try to find a cheap alternative to the M&W fan. I also have a 4010 with a non Turbo rotary pump 7700 engine it runs around 110hp and was the big tractor other then my 4040 until this build
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 Yep that same engine in the 4230 with the rotary pump cranks and cranks and cranks before it starts and usually needs a shot of ether.
@@wizard_of_poz4413 By the time the 40 series came out Deere had fixed the starting problems. Also, the 4240 and 4440 have the 466 engine rather than the 404 used in the 30 series tractors.
i don't know if you remember me or not we talk some time ago on Facebook about the M&W parts and then i gave you first chance on a john deere 1008 bush hog that need work. Any ways i have a customer that is going to be dropping off a 4020 with a bad motor and he has the motor from a 6600 that he wants me to put the 6600 motor in the 4020. What i wanna know is what did you do about the water pump fan ? and how much do you take of on the crank pulley and what ales do i need to do to make it fit. As for the bad motor me and my cousin are going to overhaul it and keep it in till we get a tractor in with a bad motor and change it out with the motor that we overhaul
Doing a 4430 into 4010 did you machine clear though the rubber or just down to it and what about the balance holes? The manifold what deg and how much to mill off? I really appreciate any info thanks @@andrewssoundsofthepast110
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 my uncle did a few repower jobs years ago putting 6600 combine engines in 4010 for pulling. I did a 2640 engine into a 2520 few years ago.
