Good video! Takes me back over 50 years ago. Back then we waited until spring to haul out the manure in WPA. You might have had a warm spell but that manure looked fairly frozen in some spots when loading it into the spreader. The ground still looked frozen where the tractor was, but really greasy on the surface. Have watched many of your videos, enjoy them all.
Looks like that skid steer bucket works fantastic for that job. Having emptied out many a pole barn with a conventional loader/manure bucket, ( tractor/front end loader) seeing how the grabs helped with separating bucket loads was pretty neat. Because stabbing under the manure and having a 25 sq. foot layer of manure want to come up all at once, with the expected result. ( Loader says NO!), could sometimes make for a lot of rocking the bucket up and down to separate things. Funny story. The FIRST thing my Dad bought as a young man with his off-farm earnings was a front end loader for our CA Allis. About 1957 or so. Because he'd had quite enough of litter carrier/pitchfork method by that time....:)
@@chasetemple3129 actually no we didn't, according to my uncle those were for rich lazy people, he had us kids to do the work why would he spend the money on a luxury ...🙄 Plus if he had one it would sit in the barn and get polished because if you used it the thing would wear out...that was the way he was
Never a good feeling when you know you don't quite have enough tractor for the job. If it is flat, everything is fine, but bring hills into the equation and it could get sketchy quick. Stay safe.
Ryan you are just getting better and better at making your videos. I used to make videos and if you look at my site you will see that I haven't made any videos in some time for various reasons and I was getting pretty good at it as well. But you have with your knowledge a way to make great videos and what helps you so much is the Drone. thanks for taking the time to make great videos along with your brother we out here in cyber land enjoy what you give us.
I honestly think you should leave the 4020 just as it is with the cab on it. Restore it mechanicly maybe but having the cab on it adds to it's historical significance I believe even if it is aftermarket. Good video Ryan!
Remember what you were saying about the handiness of 4WD/MFWD just a few weeks ago? Yeah, that's what I thought. Oh well, it's not winter driving unless the knuckles get a little white and the "pucker factor" takes effect.
Ryan! I know how u feel abt getting stuck. I did that 3 days ago. But we managed to get unstuck and we took another path, then worked our way to the muddy part of the field with 2 tractors instead of 1. Just say that was smart of us to think abt that before we do it again.
What no birds in that long shot of spread manure ? When we were dairying the sound of the tractor and spreader was the dinner bell to all the birds that wintered over in NW New Jersey ! We'd see everything from sparrows and starlings to pheasants, crows and the occasional red-tailed hawk and even a falcon or two. Once or twice I've even seen owls patrolling the spread.
I'm pretty sure that with some weight in or on the tires and wheels you would have had a much different experience. For an aweful number of years, we hauled manure with 2-wheel drive tractors and did fine.
Is that twine or wrap on the beaters ? Since some of that manure appears frozen how does the drive box and beater system like it ? IAC< when time presses we don't always get to what we plan or want . Keep up the great videos !
Tires would be a good investment as well as grease.... Edit, I have the same spreader with lots more miles on it. Guardrail makes pretty awesome fence does it not!
Ryan, did we miss the tractor windshield instillation? I know it was of interest to several. Been trying to watch videos so as not to miss it. Any update, please?
RYAN ME DA MUCHO GUSTO SALUDARLO Y SABE ME DA MUCHO GUSTO QUE EN SUS VIDEOS SALGA SU JOHN DEERE 4020 PORQUE UN SERVIDOR TIENE OTRO IGUAL, ADELANTE CON SUS VIDEOS SOY UN FAN SUYO Y TODOS LOS MIRO.
I don't know Ryan looks like you did a crappy job on this one...Lol I like that old 4020 we had one when I was a kid no cab and had a loader I learned on that tractor I'd like to find one like it again
Thanks for the video. Something we need to get started here on the farm Hauling manure the weather is just been peachy maybe we'll try next week. I haven't used a two wheel drive tractor in a long time to haul manure that must be a fun experience again. Someday I want to get a 40 20 powershift tractor to add to my collection. Have you guys ever tried different brands of oil. Hope you guys have a great day and talk to you later
The Farming Life out looking for more views again for your boring Channel. All you do is copy all of the other Channel's. Post the same thing everyday about Cattle And all your equipment is a piece of crap. Oh you can't forget what makes all your money by killing people.
Gary Waxler that probably won’t help in that situation, the ground was still frozen but it was warm enough to make the top slimy. It’s just like putting water on top of ice, makes it hard to get traction unless you have tire chains
Would it be less expensive to prestage fodder and hay bales (ring feeder) train cattle to electric fence in the lot and feed in pasture or corn field. Saves spreader aroma and field compaction, time, wear n tear and fuel money. Build a travel swayle for cattle back to water. Cattle don't compact and moves water to ponds with nutrients. Local tree companies may give away wood chips to save dump fees. See a truck with chipper call. Set orange cone for dumping site. Great deep bedding in cattle barn and compost after. Many ranchers like letting the animals do more field work than humans using expensive equipment, fuel and time. Would a bale wrapper, electric fence and a solar charger be money better spent than barn yard cleanup expense and a new spreader? Good for custom work if you plant pastures waiting on grain to recover.
Does the freeze thaw affect your alfalfa over wintering. Had a ton of winter kill last year. Really weakened stands. I know Manitoba different then you. Just curious
TNT Cattle I agree with u on that. Because were the farm I work at in Northern Missouri. Mother Nature can't make its mind. Some days r above freezing and other days its below freezing. The pass 4 weeks I have been cutting & splitting wood to sell for firewood. Today's high is 34°s & feels like 11°. And this Tuesday during the day and night is 60% of snow showers & the high is 26°'s, at night is 10°'s. I know what u mean by everything is frozen.
Nope, no solid spreading during the winter. We can spread liquid only in an emergency, like if a pit was too overrun. We cannot apply commercial N or P fertilizers during the winter either.
