Since you are wrenching on it, and it is a tool you plan on keeping to use, I would go through and replace all the bearings and wear parts now. btw, I enjoy the longer wrenching videos. It reminds me of when I was working in a shop. I work on my stuff, you work on yours, and there is just the conversation across the bays. Granted its 1 way conversations in this medium, its still enjoyable.
My plan right now is to keep it at least for a while to see how I like it. With it being as dry as it is, I doubt I will get to use it much this year. We've put a total of 1.5 hours combined on the X758 and 1445 in the last three weeks and 0.9 of those were spraying with the X758! I did order enough hammers to replace half the current ones. Once I get those replaced we will see how much more I want to spend.
In all honesty if you go ahead and do both sides and you know it is going to do the job you got it to do,you are still ahead. If you consider like I do that my time is worth a nickel an hour hehehe
Two bearings have been ordered..... they just need to come in. No shipping date from Mother Deere as of this past Saturday. They were ordered on 6/22! As my wife tells me, insolvency can only go so far.... so I quit even accounting for my time, at least requesting an allowance for it! Haha
Lol...I knew when you told me what you paid for it in the first video you were in for trouble. There are no free lunches and I think you knew that also.
Yes, typically it’s all where you want to spend your money. Spend it up front or spending it over time in parts and labor. At this point I have about 600 in this fail mower. It works great and is still cheaper than a good used on, I think! Lol
Had same trouble yrs ago similar project ,,,,several cycles extreme heat and cold water ,,,several times glow red ...cold water...wondering if a guy used a air hammer to help free it also
What size puller did you use to remove the Drive Pulley from the shaft? I need to replace my v-belt and you have to remove the drive pulley from the shaft in order to do so.
I think I ended up using my larger three jaw puller. I think it’s a 10 ton set up. I had to try a couple different combinations to get it to work right. This is the problem when I don’t video stuff, I forget!!
Interesting take on the video. I state at 4:54 that issues like this can be a big negative at buying at auction. I even review the cost savings and the benefits of buying at auction by citing the local unit that was for sale for $1,200. Could you point me to a time point in the video that I blame the auction or auction company for the issue or do something besides stating facts about the repair?
Hi, I am looking at one of these to purchase also. I am planning to run it on a JD CUT. My plan is to only really use it to maintain some smaller fields, grass will be 4-8 inches max probably, for a better cut than a brush hog. I know you're running a larger tractor but how does it seem on HP drain doing lighter cutting?
Based on my short run with it thus far I’d say it’s not a HP hog. I would think anything over 30 PTO hp should be fine. Deere list the 25A as a 30-75 hp unit.
@@blessed7fold 52 hp at the PTO can quickly be used up by seemingly small attachments. A lot of folks put 84” blowers behind a 4 series, even the 4044. I only have a 74” behind mine. The 74” blower will give the machine all it wants under the right conditions. An 84” blower with some of the snow events we have would present some real challenges getting that first pass pushed through in a reasonable amount of time.
