You can replace them with lesser quality bearings and they will do the job for a time. To replace the spindle bearings on the 50" John Deere 318 / 322 deck you have to remove the blades, remove the spindles from the deck, remove the pullies, press out the spindle shafts, extract the bearings, and then reverse the process.
