Thank you Christy for constantly eating dirt to bring these videos to us. Your drone skills, the audio, the excellent camera work and editing, all come together to make this the best tractor channel on RU-vid. Thank you, your hard work does not go unnoticed. Also, thanks for the comparison. My biggest question is which works best with a backhoe?

Along with eating dirt, she eats snow, wind, cold, bugs, chaff, airborne plant clippings, and heat. She needs a portable climate controlled video tent or shed, complete with an espresso machine, beverage dispenser, dorm fridge (stocked) and a snack table (stocked as well).

I just got a quote on a loaded 4075R to replace our 10 year old 5083e. Our 5 series is just too big to do much more than mow a couple spots on our complex. The 4 series, with a smaller flex wing grooming mower and ehydro, should allow us to mow more, as well as use it for more tasks around the complex. We have plans to use it for snow removal as well which we never even though about with the 5 series. Thank you for all your videos on the 4 series tractors. They have been very informative and helpful.

Thank you for your review/comparison Tim. I've been looking at the 5e for a few years but was conflicted when the 4075r came out. Just purchased a my23 5075e today and could not have felt more confident with my purchase after your review videos of each tractor.

Great video! This was what I was wanting to hear between the 2 models. The 4044m we currently have is great for our 10 acre farm but we do custom square and round baling on about 150 acres so we have a 75hp New Holland as well to help with that. Wanting something with a cab now so that the summer heat isn't as exhausting.

Hi Tim! I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now and I just signed the paper work for an OOS 5075e. It’s going to be too big for what I actually need for now, but I’d rather have more tractor than I need then regret not getting enough. I’m glad JD went with bigger front tires for the new 23 model.

As they say, “different strokes for different folks.” Very interesting and objective comparison, Tim. Although I appreciate the benefits of the 5 series, for me and my uses, my 4R cab tractor with hydro trans is sooooo handy and the only way for me to go. Your comparison confirmed my preference. Thanks for the info. Blessings.

You could buy the 5075e and a 3025e for the same price as the 4075r, thats crazy. Great comparison, thank. Goodworks tractor would have said they were the same because theyre both 75hp.

And have a more capable tractor, it baffles me that a 75 HP tractor has a catagory 1 three point hookup. And actually goodworks just did a quick video on the 4075 and said it's kind of pointless. I can't think of a situation where the 4075 is needed that the 4066 couldn't do the same thing. Just an excuse for deer to charge more $$$

Great informative video and thank you guys for sharing! I own a 2022 5090E (which I know is larger than what you compared today) and I love it. Ironically, I had a 4066 (similar to the 4075R you tested) and I really loved the hydrostatic transmission; however the cab was too small and I just needed a little more power. A few months after I traded up to my 5090E my JD dealer got in a 5125R and I LOVED that tractor; however it was a little out of my price range but certainly an awesome machine. I have added some upgrades to my 5090E that I assume you could probably add to a 5075E. Those upgrades include a door kit (with steps) and an instructor or “buddy seat”. I’ve got everything I really need and just love doing field work with my 5090E. In the future I would be interested in a video comparing an E series machine to an M series. Thanks again for the great video.

Great comparison Tim. Wish I would have had data like this before I bought my JD4066M. Don't get me wrong, I like my 4066 but I sure could benefit from a heavier machine with stronger loader and a higher lift height. However I have grown accustom to my 4066 and learned to work to it's limits. Hyrostat trans is great and it is a very reliable machine.

I have that same 5075E that you have Tim. There is a trick to the clutch that took me a bit to figure out. Start out in B4 or C1 at idle and the friction point of the clutch is much easier to control. I use B4 most of the time for loader work and it takes some getting use to but I got it down pretty good now. The MSL loader on this machine is one of the biggest plus's I'd say, it's a beast of a loader. I came from a 4520 and wanted a cab and more HP and I don't regret it. The A/C is amazing! lol

Tim, I do “blame” you for my 5075E. As I adjust to it over the past couple of years from the 3039R or 1025R, I continues to grow on me. I like the ride, the power and the comfort. I don’t even have an air ride seat for my backside. One of the best non-obvious things are the two front screens for the coolers. So easy to pop the hood, tap the debris off the screens and get back to work. The screen or lack thereof on the 3 series is a pain. Anyway, keep doing what you are doing. I look forward to your videos ps: you can shift on the go. You just can’t change ranges (A, B or C)
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim Год назад
Not really ‘shift on the go’…yes, they are synchronized, but you must clutch, and cannot do that under load.

Cool comparison, though I likely won’t ever be in the market for either. Pricing v. features in different series’s is very interesting. An example to the extreme: People might call me crazy for buying a b2650 w/cab for $30k a few years ago when you could easily get a cabless 3 series for less. Cab was that important to me! Keep up the good work!

Tim, Great video and very interesting. Your 5075e is a 12F/12R Power Reverser transmission. Why do you say there is no "shift on the go". As explained in the operator's manual, you can't shift between the 3 ranges (ABC) on the go, but you can readily shift between the 4 gears in each range while moving. I have a 6120e with 24F/12R Power Reverser transmission and it is very smooth shifting gears within a range while on the go.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim Год назад
Ok, yes, they are synchronized, which is great, but you can’t shift under load without clutching like with a powershift transmission. I probably should have gone into a bit more detail on this.

For me the E-hydro transmission is a must. My main need is PTO hp and variable ground speeds. My choice is between the 4066R and 4075R. For some planned jobs I would need a second stationary tractor running the PTO. An older farm tractor like a John Deere 3020 might fill this role and do any heavy ground work. Ventrac and a used Toro 580D to handle most of the mowing. Farmall Cub Low-Boy just for fun! I have enjoyed your presentation of the 4075R! I also enjoyed the presentation of the Solectrac tractor. I hope that they rethink the PTO and it looks like maybe they did! The e25H says "independent PTO" Clearly this tractor will not replace my diesel tractor choices, but an independent PTO version may have niche application and get it's power from the solar system. My real problem is that I like all kinds of equipment, large and small, whether I need it or not!
@bradmeacham6982
@bradmeacham6982 Год назад
Just for clarification, JD dropped the 5R series around a year or two-ish ago. The 5M series picked up some of the options that were previously 5R only territory. The "Powr-8" transmission with creeper option (on the fly power shifting and super slow creeper gears) would give back a lot of the E-Hydro's ease of use functionality, albeit with the requirement of using the power reversing clutch and/or the foot clutch, both of which a heavy duty wet clutches that can take a lot of abuse. Yes, this will be an expensive tractor, especially with a 540R MSL loader, but what a rig!

I have always been told that it is best to run a disk at 6MPH. This is so that the soil is turned over. It is hard to see with the dry soil being so loose and the dust but I would like a closeup of the surface of an area that had some weed growth after one pass of the disk.

I really like the way you explain, compare, review, and edit your videos! I wish you would weren't stuck on John Deere and would make the same type of content with Kubota as well. If you would do that with and unbias opinion, I think that would help make a lot of decisions for some folks who are trying to decide on the best tractor for their situation. It seems as reviewers only like John Deere or Kubota, so getting a non bias opinion is nearly impossible.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim Год назад
This is very difficult. The Kubotas I have reviewed in depth simply do not measure up. I don’t mean to be biased, but the ones I have tested do not compete well. BX and LX. I like the looks of the Grand L. Would like to do a more in depth review/comparison on that machine. Would love to find a Kubota I could genuinely praise. So far, the Kubota’s I have reviewed make me appear even more biased. Honestly, I am open minded. I cannot say that I am enamored with the attitude of John Deere corp. Unfortunately, from what I have seen, they are far ahead of the competition. One other point. If you watch closely in this episode, I do not avoid the downsides to these machines. I bluntly state what I see as areas where they lack. So, hopefully you see from that approach that I am not blinded by the green paint.

I have felt that same lunge can an older 4210, a quite new 4066r and my own 4520. Never felt it in my 4610.. I have thousands of hours on those 2 machines and the 4520 and the 4066r having that lunge I thought would just be a quirk in their transmissions but I've felt it recently in a friends 4210. He says it's been like that since new. It's actually very inconsistent in my 4520 and I remember dirt perfect talking about the same thing in his 4066r on your channel. It's like the pedals have a mind of their own. Some time barely touching them gives you a crawl and sometimes it thinks you wanted to move a foot not an inch.

Good comparison Tim!! On my 3039R when I first got it my forward pedal was doing that lunging thing, very frustrating when trying to swap out FEL attachments. It ended up being something adjustment in the ECU that the tech had to make, though Deere made them start with a new potentiometer as the first part of the warranty process. That made it work flawlessly, I did a video on this because it dawned on me that there are perhaps many people out there who have just accepted this as normal. Now, you and I both know the answer to this I'm sure, but I would love to see you put that set of disc harrows behind your 46R, JD claims to have at least two sets of pull type disc harrows that only require 35 draw bar HP, I disagree. My FIL has a set of old JD flex discs that pull very easy, he thought they were 10' and wanted to see if my 39R would pull them, but when I got out to the weeds and measured they are 12', so I told him I'll pass on that. I started watching your channel you were focusing on the 1025r and it's capability. This is one of the reasons I started looking at compact tractors it fit my need and my price point, but when I went to buy My John Deere all I could find in my area was the 3E series. So to the point, I think that the 3E tractor is over look and is a tractor that could benefit from up grades you have shown for the 1025 . the videos you have release recently are great to watch but are options that are to costly for most people and most small land owners dont need tractors that large. I do really enjoy your channel, but it has gone pass my needs and think for others to. I mess how your content started out
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim Год назад
Fair enough. We made it clear in our first 4075R review video that we are looking at this because it is ‘the new thing’ this year. There are no changes to any other machines in the compact tractor line up. We will continue to show the compact tractors. Personally, I am not excited about the 3e because it is less functional than the 2R. I know a lot of folks think they are getting a ‘3 series’ so they are excited. Unfortunately, the 3e is mis-classified. Should be a ‘2M’/‘2E’ or similar. If one wants upgrades to the 3E, they should look at the 2R. Most 3E buyers are more concerned about price than upgrades. In other words, you watched our videos, then, didn’t follow our advice, and now are upset that we don’t feature your exact machine. Frustrating, for sure!

Hello, I have had 2 4066R cab tractors, Then I bought a 5075 cab tractor and once I got the 5075 and still having the 4066R I never really wanted to drive that 4066R, the 5075 was so easy to operate and comfortable and it had incredible torque you could feel the difference in the stability of its size and it wasn’t really a big tractor it was actually the perfect size, when my season starts I work or could work seven days a week about 14 hours a day mowing grass/weeds that are up to 12 feet tall large and small acreage and the 5075 worked wonders and it was extremely comfortable, the 4066r is a great little tractor for what it is and I feel for doing dirt work especially in tight areas it’s the perfect little tractor but since purchasing the 5075 I realize now the differences and to me they are huge and now I’ve jumped up to a 5090 E Cab tractor and that’s even better in a perfect world I would feel owning a big tractor in a small tractor is the perfect set up, both tractors are incredible. I do feel the five series is a better choice especially for the money now.

We will not know until you take your hydrostatic completely apart and put it back together again with zero extra parts. Take pictures as you work so you know where all the parts go. Good luck.

I wish that I could understand what you are referring to when you say jumpy clutch. We own 3 of them in different configuration and I operate one of those myself daily and don't see it in ours. However you didn't talk about the PTO horse power , the 5075e We found has a bit more than the 4075r due to the HST transmission. My next question is , when you did the turning radius test , where you in 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive? And check under your hood , I think you'll find a dpf filter because ours regularly regen. Great video and give Christy some seat time In that 5075e with the woods finish mower , it might grow on her 😀

Excellent video Tim. You probably already knew I would love to see a 5M on your channel. LOL You will need to give up, compromise or modify that 3 cylinder 75hp rule you talked about, and move up to the 5090M if you want to get the command quad transmission. For me once I really dove into the 5R and learned what it was, and all about its features and options, that was it. I had have one, now 2, The 5R simply has nearly all the stuff everyone talks about wanting on 4R or 5 series machines. The auto clutch, command quad auto or command quad manual are so night and day nicer then the 5Ms I had with the 16/16 or 32/16 I had in the other one. The electronic loader control joystick is so smooth, it is really amazing. I am thinking for Christy who does not seem to want to mess with a clutch, that the Command quads auto clutch feature is the way to go, you can drive them entirely without ever touching the clutch. I do still clutch my 5Rs more out of habit then really needing to clutch. LOL The benefit of backing up to hookup implements is game changing. I can turn my seat sideways put it in A1 with a touch of button, then back up using only the brake pedal with my left foot or right foot, not having to do a contortionist act to work the clutch, and the brakes all while turned backwards to watch my hitch. LOL . That command quad transmissions is such a game changer. In some ways maybe an e-hydro is still better in its simplicity and ease of use in certain situations.
@TractorTimewithTim

Is command quad better than command 8?
@jdfleetguy28
@jdfleetguy28 Год назад
@@TractorTimewithTim command quad is a 16/16, command 8 is 32/16. Both have auto clutch, and can toggle to shift through All gears access multiple ranges. Command 8 has aside from twice the gears, it has full auto mode where you can tell it what speed you want to go and it does the rest to take you to that speed and hold it there.. There is two version of Command quad, manual and auto, manual version you toggle through gears, no auto mode available. Command quad auto works like command 8 where it has a auto mode but only 16 gears rather then 32 like command 8.
@jdfleetguy28

The best parts about all 3 command versions, is auto clutch, power shifting through several ranges, no more reaching down to the floor to change ranges, no more clutching to change gears or anything if you don’t want to clutch just use the brake.

Is the 5075e not a synchronized transmission? You said you can't shift on the go but with a pto powered implement like a Bush hog you should be able to shift gears on the go unless the transmission isn't synchronized or you don't have live pto. I actually prefer a gear drive transmission for a Bush hog but that's coming from someone who drove gear drives from the time he had to slide down of the seat to push the clutch. One thing we do on the farm for someone who isn't familiar with shifting is we just get them to use the hydraulic shuttle. It works great for picking up big bails in the field. You just put it in a low gear and let them putter around 😆

My neighbor has a couple of 5075E open station tractors. They've been fairly reliable, but the layout of the operator station is horrible. I don't know who Deere is making these tractors for, but it's not men over 6' tall I can assure you.
