The Moose it is extremely comfortable to operate. The transmission controls being incorporated into the loader joystick is probably one of the best features. They should have done that a long time ago.

How often does it regen? I’m kinda scared to buy a new Deere because of the DPF and how expensive it is to replace. I’m thinkin the Massey 4710 will be better for hay which is all I’ll be doing

Cameron Nalley in almost 500 hours It has only regenerated twice, and those were active regeneration cycles meaning the tractor cleaned itself out during normal operation. If you are running the tractor appropriately you won’t see trouble. I never let the machine idle for long, and if it has to sit running, I keep the RPMs up around 1200 to keep it hot. I don’t constantly top off the DEF tank, I fill it up and run it down before putting fresh fluid in and I’m careful not to contaminate the tank when filling. I think a lot of the hype and complaints about these newer emissions tractors stems from improper operation and maintenance by the operator / owner.

mbarber84 only twice in 500 hours? That’s pretty good I’d say. I heard somebody say theirs does it every couple days. If I end up getting a new Deere it’ll most likely be leased just because of how expensive that DPF is to replace. I’m torn between the 5125R and the 6M or possibly a smaller 6R. Only reason I’m considering the 6 series is i jut prefer a larger tractor over a smaller one. But hey anything will be better than my 95 horse Massey 393. I’m also looking at the 6700 global series Massey. The Deere dealer is so much closer though! Thank you for the quick response, I really enjoy the loader work videos!

Cameron Nalley you’re very welcome! I’d say anyone that’s regenerating that much isn’t running the tractor the way it is recommended in the manual. Idle time is the biggest culprit to emissions issues and it’s a bad habit that has to be broken when running this new stuff. If you look at a 6 series, check out the 2020 model year 6120M it looks awesome!! Almost wish I would have waited to buy that instead of this 5R

mbarber84 the new 6M looks great doesn’t it! I wonder how that sloped hood is going to compare to the 5700 series Massey so you can see the loader better. I might have to check into that 6M some more

If you had to do it over, would you order anything different or change anything about that 5R?
@mbarber84

Travis Howle thanks for your question. As of this moment I would not change anything. I am extremely pleased with the unit as it sits. I was careful to do my research prior to ordering it so it really is exactly how I wanted it. The features and options I did not select (such as the command 8 transmission and the Command arm console) aren’t really necessary in my application. The only thing I would like to have done is waited until John Deere releases the updated 5R tractors. I would like to have the suspended front axle, the programmable joystick, as well as the variable ratio steering and the additional monitor. But unfortunately they weren’t options at the time.

@@mbarber84 Thanks! Have you had any issues out of the machine; electronic, hydraulic, or otherwise? It's been hard to find reviews out there other than yours.

Travis Howle I have only had a few minor issues. The only real serious problem (if you could call it that) was one of the hydraulic lines in the space between the firewall and the engine compartment was not properly tightened and worked loose after about ten hours of run time. We lost some oil and had a small mess to clean up but no damage. My dealer handled it quickly and got me back up and running. I also had to have a software package uploaded to make the auxiliary loader lights function properly with the control interface on the right hand console. Again, my dealer handled that with ease. Overall I am very happy with this machine. I have a few minor complaints regarding what I consider to be design oversights, and I highlighted those in my review. In my humble opinion I think Deere has not marketed these tractors anywhere near as much as they should. That’s why I started posting these videos in the hopes that others who find themselves looking at one would have some resources available. When I was doing my research, there were practically no videos or information out there. What info I did find was usually pertaining to the overseas variant of the 5R tractor which is similar, but not identical.

Nice. Can you put another row on top of that bale wag?
@mbarber84
@mbarber84 5 лет назад
Long View Farm yes you could, however it would depend on the weight of the bales. I have hauled up to four additional bales (plus the standard 10) without an issue provided they are dry first cutting bales.

The Bales pear on this tractor can you give me brand Nd details...
@mbarber84

Phil McCoy it is actually not a bale spear. It is a manure fork. 60” wide, made by ålö quicke but it works great for moving bales also!

@@mbarber84 Thank you so much. I can see that. I appreciate the reply. I am trying to purchase a 540R Loader for my tractor and will need a hay spear...I thought the one you were using worked exceptionally well. Great information videos..Helped me a great deal with new 6110M I just got...Especially cornerpost display that I have struggled figuring out.

Phil McCoy you’re very welcome! If you have any more questions please let me know. I have just shy of 700 hours on my 5125R right now and have been very happy with it. Overall it is a good machine. Not without its issues, but overall I am pleased. I’ll be making a 700 hour review video for my channel soon so keep in touch!
