I had a 1957 720 diesel too. Mine was the electric start with clam shell fenders. It was my powerhouse for years. Pulled a 4-14’s pull type plow in these clay hills in northeast Iowa with it. It matched up nicely. It ran the JD 336 thrower baler really well too. It had a wide front which was a Schwartz and that was a seal point. The JD wide front was hands down better. Thanks for sharing. I miss my old 720. It was a great tractor. My favorite during my time farming.
Thanks for great memories of better days in Oklahoma ok la humma Choctaw as iam quarter Choctaw quarter Cherokee I was six when this tractor came out c r in Texas
this is a neat video and first one I've seen with, what I always called a plow-disk, a "surflex tiller". I never knew that's what they were called; I've seen them in magazines and always thought they were neat and couldn't figure out why they went by the way-side. IMO the top manufacturers who have developed the "new Speed Disks/Tillers", are just reinventing this tool.
@@ArnieD17 right, like the plow and creating a pan under the loose soil. I’ll be curious to see what’s said and what’ll come of these new speed disks that have flooded the industry. At the cost of them I’ve resisted buying one.

Nothing better than the sound of a 2 cylinder with a good load on it. I have a many of hours on one of these we used it alot on the forage harvester every once in a while you would get a wad in the chopper that would shut the 720 down instantly when this happened it would start up and run backwards thus blowing all the oil out of the air cleaner and all over the hood. Another thing I remember is most times when you would stall it in the field the pony motor gas tank didn't have enough gas to get it running again very small tank but those were the days I wouldn't trade them for anything
Back in the 70s when I was helping my uncle's on their farms ,those plowing disks as they were called ,were used mostly for disking the corn stalks in the fall . When the price of cornstalks baled baled rose to $100 a ton ,the discs got parked in the fence rows n the baler got hooked to the tractor in the fall n farmers baled all the cornstalks ! My uncle ,whose been farming since 1938 said to me ,I never thought I would see the day when the cornstalks brought more $ per ton than the kernel ! That my is why the plowing disks went the wayside ,out of favor of the farmers . Plus I'm the spring you get stuckfaitly easy with them.
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 it was built in the 50s not 2000 they still held the title of most fuel efficient tractor till the mid 70s when turbos started to be popular
