The 8000 series is one of my favorites from deere. Spent alot of hours in an 8410 over the years and always loved that power tec engine sound too . Awesome tractor.
I run a 8310 alot on the farm I work for I love that tractor everyone else hates it. Pry why I run it the most. Sounds amazing straight piped! Might have to make a request. Lol
@@oldfarmer3001 it has alot of hours on it transmission shifts hard from 11th to 12th and 12th to 13th if you dont pay attention, so that's why they don't like it. Fine by me I'll run it more. I've even offered to buy it but they wont give a straight answer.
Can't hardly believe that tractor is nearly 20 years old! Looks great. Needs more power for that Sunflower. Not used to tractors bogging down on this channel Jason!
Mark Reetz needs a different tractor altogether. 275 at the bear minimum. According to the Nebraska test, you can get a hair over 27k out of it as far as weight, but even then you’re still at the bare minimum
@@nellsonstout7001 Yep. Jason said the Sunflower needs 25 to 30 hp per shank. 11 shanks should have 275 to 330 hp. He needs another 100 hps to maximize the diggers usage. He could slow down, but that is hard to do. Once you work in a higher gear, it's hard to keep it in a lower gear. (temptation) But on the up side it sounded like power! Awesome!
That chisel plow is sure different then what I see in Saskatchewan. In my area of Saskatchewan, Bourgault 9400/9500s are the most common. Thanks for the video Jason
Great video and I bet the man operating is the proud owner!! Very good shape for twenty year old. I have a little 100 hp 6410 I bought new and I won’t never wear it out on a little hay farm. Thanks for sharing
@Joey Gonker yup, dad had a 8520 and it pulled good but it shifted like shit and the dealer couldn't get it calibrated to shift right, ended up trading on a 305 case ih magnum and never looked back
@@mossjones7375 the shanks are only 5 inches deep so it’s nowhere near being in the ground pretty good😂 at that depth, they don’t break up any compaction and thus, it’s pretty pointless.
@@rudrarudra2636 Hardly anyone MB plows in the Midwest any more. They have all been melted down or sitting in the fence rows growing up in weeds. This tillage tool does an excellent job of leaving just enough crop residue on the surface to prevent erosion and still make a good seed bed for next years crop.
Liked, realize he not plowing all that deep and there's a lot of residue. But if I plowed up and down the hill like that. It would wash just as deep as the chisel went. Maybe they don't get the hard flooding rains we get in the southeast?
Running 5 inches deep for subsoiling doesn't sound like it's worthwhile, as a good disk will go that deep. Compaction and hard pan are going to be deeper than that.
@@fisherh9111 he’s right. You don’t get the benefits pulling it 5 inches deep. He’s overworking the tractor, and at one point, he turns with the shanks in the ground. That’s how you bend and break shanks and assemblies
