Plowing beans took a lot of hours away from my youth. 2 row's at a time on a 35hp tractor. Man it took time. But think back on those days. Sure would love to do it all over again.

Awesome footage btp as always! Hiniker has some nice cultivators. I have seen in Nebraska where they have these 6000's all the way up to 24 row 30in with 4wds pulling them. Keep up the good work

It's funny how I spend my whole day working in or around large tractors like this, and when I get home on the computer I just keep on watching videos about farming equipment. There's just something about the engineering going into farming equipment that's really fascinating to watch and learn about. Great video, like all the video's on the channel.

It is a growing segment of the farming industry. It takes a few more passes a year to keep the weeds under control.

I can remember it the the very first time i got to cultivate when I was a kid on a 720 John Deere diesel with a 4 row vibor shank cultivator. Spent many hours watching did do it which he made it look easy which it isn't hard but he like thinks set pretty tight against the row so not much wiggle room. Still love to cultivate today but not much of that happens know with all the spray technology out there. Our neighbor has a 24 row hiniker with the interseeder attached that is a huge machine. They also do organic

Never look back when you cultivate, ran a 8 row 885 JD no till cultivator for many years before roundup was available, back in the days of Dual & Eradicane herbicides for corn.

My Dad would always get teased when he went to town about how crooked his rows were. He always told them that he did it on purpose! He said I get more bushels/acre 'cause I plant more seeds/acre!!!! lol Everyone would just shake their heads and laugh!

When I was a kid, I remember my mom cultivating corn 2 rows at a time with her Ford 8N. Then when I was a teenager, I cultivated 4 rows at a time with our MF 265. We still do some cultivating (with y-drop N & touch-up herbicide spraying) on 12 rows with my MF 6716S.

When I was growing up my dad cultivated with a Farmall 806, 8 rows at a time: 3 row side mounts on each sid and a 2 row rear mount. Also cultivated the small fields with a Farmall H 3 rows at a time.

Very nice soybeans for being organic. Dually tractors do not seem to be the best choice, but I understand that they will not disassembly it just for this job.

We have a 16 row duals are a must on the back not so much on the front that thing will pull ya around and that thing isn't light neighbor thought it would be cool to take the inner tires off and leave duals on so he did knock down as much let's just say he a rather large bill a John Deere.

That's what I thought too, no globe? And as far as I've heard they aren't incredibly accurate (within a couple inches?) so it wouldn't be much help in this situation... not trying to start an argument just putting my two cents in!

I will have to ask at harvest. The organic soybeans bring more in price but have a lower yield.

The field has several springs in it that make it fairly wet most of the year that was just a spot that was too wet to plant.

What's the purpose of the wheel in front of each cultivator? Is it just for depth control?

They help keep the row units grounded on a straight track.

Is there a price differential between organic and non-organic soybeans ? How are organic soybeans used as opposed to non-organic soybeans . I see some other people are asking this question .

When I film the harvest I will ask the farmer these good question. The short answer is yes the price for the organic beans is much higher but the yield is much lower.

I object to the term "a modern farm". Farming without all the chemicals... all the poisons that pollute the environment and do nothing to improve soil health... is becoming more popular all over the world. Once the soil is dead because of conventional farming practices... if you don't keep using more and more fertilizers that are made in laboratories... then that same soil won't even grow weeds... You can't keep taking and taking and continue to think everything is just fine...
