Living on a freestall operation in Amsterdam NY in the early 70s ... they had a bunk silo and used old International dump trucks that had covers on them. They used a 5020 with a 2 head chopper and chained the trucks to the chopper. When you're using a big 4x4 JD , you know that bunk is big.

That is a nice tractor, me and him last Saturday 10/22/23 worked together to push up sorghum at that same heifer farm. I ran a JD 9570rx with a 14 ‘ blade.

@@bigtractorpower For pushing up silage it works extremely well. There is no give in front end like on a tire tractor when blade is going up. Just a firm ride. The blade has the sides bolted on which is a big advantage for carrying silage.

That's the common sense way to pack a bunker. I've seen videos of guys tipping over single tired tractors. Duals are the only safe way to go.

I always loved running one of the packing tractors during silage season. We used either an A/C WD or a JD B.

@@bigtractorpower for alfalfa we used a jd flail chopper. Not sure of the one for corn. Either a gehl or fox.

funny fact, the AC8550 i bought has a professionally fitted D6 blade on it so i could either whack some poplars down or pack silage

That machine is embarrassed pushing silage. All that power and no where to go. Don’t all that tire cut down on it’s packing ability? Stay safe. I love to eat cheap.

The tires increase the packing. More surface area per pass the compress. 375 hp is about ideal to push. If you go to more power, it really is wasted at that point.
