I’m still fascinated by the slingshot spreaders - I haven’t seen them in my area of Kansas since our Massey in the early 80’s. My 9500 has a chopper and dual chaff spreaders. I know you said that your dad was on the lookout for a machine that had them - I didn’t even know they came on a machine built in the 90’s. The backwards header buttons took a while to get used to - I laughed when I heard you ask your dad about it!
It took me a little bit to get use to when I was combining with it. Those are nice spreaders. We have a neighbor that has a 8820 that has them. I'm not sure if they were aftermarket or what
Hey buddy just wanted to wish you and all your family's all have a nice Halloween keep all of your children safe and hope you have a good Thanksgiving.
Great video Mike. Not comparable by any means but I worked on a dairy farm in Hershey, PA in h.s. in the '80's.. Did everything from operating the combine to milking cows. It was just a blip in time but enough to teach me how much responsibility and hard work goes into farming.
Thats really cool. I was watching a show the other day about food in America and how Milton Hersey built his factory where he did for all the dairy farms. I'm sure the farm you worked on was one of the farms that supplied him with milk
@@mikep7810 you are correct! It was one of the best times of my life. Milton built the most opulent orphanage in the word. Sadly the class of 1980 was his Frankenstein monster. They broke the Hershey trust and sold most of the 40,000 acres to Nike. Got rid of the dairy farms and 5 years ago I was there to watch them tear down my old barn. I developed an incredible work ethic from that experience and now it's completely lost to future generations. Very sad.
Thanks for the video Mike! You definately move a bit faster with the 15 foot head verses the22 we run on our 9500. At least your getting something done, the rain has been dropping here just often enough we can't get to our beans in southeastern Mo.
I was wanting to know if you could do a video on how to hook up and unhook the corn head and soybean head and how the corn head, soybean head, and the combine works and how to operate them and how to get them ready for harvest and how to set the corn head speed for corn, reel speed for soybeans, cylinder speed for corn and soybeans, concaves for corn and soybeans, fan speed for corn and soybeans, and the sieves for corn and soybeans and some in depth and detailed and dedicated videos on and about the combine and corn head and soybean head?
How's it been going mike I've been extinct lately, yeah fall hasn't been great this year for my friends, but on the good side harvest is going great other than a snow storm is supposed to hit us tomorrow which is quite rare for us in nebraska but there's only a few corn fields left so it shouldn't hurt to much
Are you going to chisel plow the fields you are taking beans and corn off this year? What do you guys do with your beans sell them? There is a farm up here that rotates between soybeans and corn on there fields and they sell all their beans I'm pretty sure. Nice to see the new combine and the 4555 out working. Soybeans sure are dusty when going into the header.
Yes I will chisel plow all the bean ground and corn ground next spring. We rotate yearly so whatever is corn will be beans next year and whatever is beans will be corn
I subscribe as usual, question what is the reason for growing beans or corn acrewise you diside that in the wintertime based on what reasons, just curios Mike, greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
We rotate every year so whatever field that was beans will be corn and whatever field that is corn will be beans. All our fields are rotated at some point so we already know what we are plowing for next year and rotating
@@mennoreuten1563 Maybe for a small field or 2 but you gotta remember we are a dairy also so the dairy part comes first then the grain plus we dont have a lot of acres. If we didnt have the dairy and we were primarily grain im sure things would change a little bit but its mainly on rotation right now
Do those crop dividers work better than the long bean crushing ones that come on them factory? I've been thinking of getting some but wasn't sure if its worth the money. Do ya have to run the height manual, seems like I remember noticing it didn't have header height control on the machine. Good video, If it ever quits raining I'd like to get my few beans done.
I'm noy sure if they work a lot better than the factor ones or not. We like them. Its crazy how it didnt rain all summer and now its raining while we are trying to harvest
@@mikep7810 Seems to be the weather patterns the last few years, only get rain when we don't need it. Lol Worst part about the factory dividers is they stick out so far.
