John Deere S780 Main Engine Gear Case input shaft seal leaking.

In this video, I've got a John Deere S780 combine that is leaking hydraulic oil out of the Main Engine Gear Case input shaft seal. You can do this job one of two ways: Pull the engine and replace the seal or remove the MEG and replace the seal. I choose to remove the engine because it is a lot faster (for me) to do the job. There are a lot of shields to take off, but there is less components that you have to remove. Watch the process of removing the almost 4,000 lb engine out of this giant combine!

We had to do the rubber drive on our 9770 JD Header which failed in the paddock on the side of the hill, and of course nothing operates once that goes. The mechanic from Pringles Ag Services from Wudinna and another from Cummins arrived, and they said it would be going by the end of the day. Which he did so we could start reaping again. The hydrostatic was drained and removed with an articulated loader which worked well.

Thanks a bunch for a great video. I use to turn wrenches on construction equipment and remember this feeling when you need to replace seal you have to pull the engine out. Seal cost $20, labor cost thousands.

I did one of those seals last year but I pulled the gearcase . Definitely alot of stuff to take off but I don't know if the engine is easier or not. Did most of it by myself and then had to wait for about a month to get the new seal because they were unavailable . Mine the seal popped out of the small housing so I replaced the housing also.
