The directions were horrendous. They designated each part a letter in the parts-list, then gave each part a different letter in the directions. So many errors, the biggest being where to attach to the side-brackets. Ignore the directions! Also: 1) remove the old toe plate 2) switch the blades 3) install the baffle 4) install the new toe plate
Thanks to your Videos on the X-350, I was able to complete installation on the Bagger. I found the John Deere Instructions not very help full. That huge metal piece that bolts up to the underside of the rider was a nightmare. I got eveything put together, and will use it for the first time after the rain tonight. Thanks for helping the DIYers! You have my vote!
I just bought the X350 with a Bumper and double bag system. Hopefully when i get this, next week, it goes together better than what you were dealing with. I hope the instructions are pretty clear. Cheers!
I like the system you have. My 2012 x300 didn't have the deep deck. It throws out a third of the leafs out the right side of the deck . The bagger looks the same. You have a easy hook up to the deck

You Sir have Saved the Day!!! Love my Deere Equipment.. But Wish they Wouldn’t have Done Without the 100 Series!!!!
The instructions are actually made in the USA(Iowa). I know a guy that had to review the directions before they "publish" them. Basically, they write them in the point of view of the designer that has alot of knowledge of the product. Not from the general public or DIY people like ourselves. The instructions were more useless than Ikea instructions. At least ikea has intuitive diagrams. JD instructions are by far the worst part about the equipment. JD quality is top notch. But their instructions of ANY assembly/accessory is equal to a child writing them.
I just installed the newer version BUC11233 & BUC11244 on my June 2022 build X350. JD added an adapter plate that adjusts the angle of the bagger presumably to reduce the chances of the chute getting clogged up.
How is the newer version of the bagging system? Also, did you have to purchase both BUC11233 and BUC11244 and what's the cost for both? I need a bagging system for my 2023 x350. Thank you.
We installed the bagger and chute on our X350. We had to take off the rear baffle of the mulching kit so that the chute fit, and it seems to work out ok. The front baffle of the chute kit was not used either. We mowed the lawn once and seems to cut the grass and bag the grass and pick up the leaves too. We will see how it goes when more leaves are on the ground. It sure is much better than raking leaves by on an acre of property by hand. Thank you for the video, very helpful.
I know that is blower is not required for decks 42" and smaller, but what about a 48" bed? I have the X350 with 48" mower bed. And a GREAT job with your video!
If I remove the bagger chute where it attaches to the deck (where the side discharge flap is) will it just discharge the grass onto the lawn without having to change out the bagging blades? Sometimes I don't want to bag, but not sure I want a mulch kit (because I don't feel like changing blades). So would like to just remove the the bagger and disperse the clippings into the lawn.
If you remove the chute, the grass clippings will discharge as normal. The bagging blades will actually help discharge the grass better and further away from the mower.
You should get a set of 22x9.5x12 wheels and tires like I did for my X350. The rear tires look ridiculous from the factory. So small. Their $160 on Amazon and really improve look. That’s if you care.
The blades the kit comes with will have a sort of "wing" on the tips. Those "wings" will need to be pointing up toward the top of the deck. How the blades are designed, they *should* only fit one way. Hope this helps. 👍
Great follow up video as my main questions pertained to the deck attachments. I bought the bagger and chute for fall leaves and really do not want to bag grass that I cut. Thinking of taking the chute off until the fall. So, in removing the side discharge chute from the deck, all I have to do is work that metal bar from behind the notched piece, then swing towards the front of the mower & lift straight up? I have taken the back bag frame off the back and the rest of the shoot. Thanks
Great. The JD dealer installed my bagger, mulching blades, and power switch that opens & closes the side discharge. Was hoping this was all I needed to remove to mulch the grass. Thanks again!
@@Dmnazdaq did you figure out how to remove the chute? We just bought the x350 with mulching kit installed and would like to remove the chute (our previous JD had a Freedom mulching deck without any chute and we like mowing close with either side of the mower). We’ll only ever use it as a mulching mower, but we can’t figure out to get the chute off. Did you find instructions anywhere? I’ve yet to find them for this particular deck and chute (Accel 42”). Many thanks.
On my machine the toe guard interferes with chute and only allows the chute to rotate about 90 degrees, thus chute will not rotate further to latch at the rear. Is the toe guard supposed to hang below the chute or does the chute go below the toe bar?
Watched your video wanting to take off the bagger to use just the side shoot part of the year. It is not as big a job as I first thought after watching video. Thank you. Is it ok to leave the high lift blades when not using bagger?
Perfectly fine to run high lift blades while side discharging. The only difference is the clippings will fly further away from the mower than the standard blades.
I don't know for certain, but according to a technician I know at a JD dealership: Bagging works, but it is sub-optimal. He recommended removing the mulch kit to bag.
The videos are a great help. I watched to learn how to remove the collection system (it came with the collection system installed). It's early summer and very dry, I wanted to avoid the dust the machine creates with the collection system. I'll reinstall later in the year. I know to change out the blades...and removing the system seems quite easy per your video. The baffle...when is that in place...only when the collection system is installed? Hence I need to remove it? Ken Teague
Thank you for your videos. I have the exact same setup and I actually am really very happy with its performance. BUT I do have one issue and I wonder if you have noticed the discharge chute that remains on the deck restricts the height you can raise the deck by. It hits the foot platform and I feel like the deck might go higher without the discharge chute on the deck. Let me know if you notice this or if I’m wrong. Thanks.
No worries I have been wondering how to effectively do something to easily be able to use a JD trailer without taking apart the Grass Catcher. Would be interested in any comments you have in this regard.
@@Jack-ju9su my basic idea was to take a piece of 2" wide 1/4" thick steel bar, and drill two holes on either end. I haven't quite figured out a way to stabilize the extension bar to the mower itself. Hope this helps. 👍
Thanks to your video I got the mower part installed. Now I can’t get the bagger mount figured out. Again written instructions and pictures suck. Can you assist me with this part of the installation. I’m calling John Deere this morning to let them know how much their instructions suck. I will definitely reference your video and advise that your good job on assisting. First JD product I have owned. Love the mower, but despise their customer service and owners manuals.
Can you offer directions on removing the deflector chute? We have the mulching kit installed and will only ever use it like that. Our previous JD mower had the old Freedom mulching deck without any discharge chute, and we’re quite used to mowing close with either side of the mower. Thanks for any help!
@@traceybaldwin6509 sorry it has taken me so long to reply. If you need to replace a broken chute, which you will be replacing, there are two bolts on the hinge that need to be removed. When those bolts are removed, the chute should come off. As a side note, please find and read my content disclaimer on my channel page. Thank you.
The X300 hasn't been produced since 2015. It is possible they don't make a bagger for it anymore. I would recommend calling your local dealer and see what they say.
It is rather annoying. I have heard or people using "mo-deck" spray in there chutes to prevent this. It's a spray used on mower decks and snow blower chutes to prevent grass clippings and ice from collecting on the surfaces.
@@MillsEngineWorks I may try that. My problem is not from wet grass but from dirt in areas where there is no or little grass. I think I’m going to try running the deck higher to see if that helps. Thanks!
I live in the woods and spent hours raking leaves in the past. This is great. As for plugging up? Mine only plugs up when the bags are full, or the leaves/grass is wet. I'm finding it also works better if I don't cut so short, and that seems to make the grass healthier in my Central Texas heat. Zoysia grass is healthiest if I cut it about 3".
