Doors sound tech said John is a small man who wouldn't likely weigh more than 90 lbs even with lead shot in his pockets. But he got a mighty and powerful sound with a simple setup and no double kick drums. It's in the wrists and fingers.

When I was starting out, learning to play the drums way back in 1990 at the ripe age of 13, I was getting into all of the late 60's & early 70's music and The Doors were by far, my favorite band til I was at least 15 and Densmore's drumming really inspired me to listen more to jazz

The Doors. The first rock band that engulfed me into music. My father played “The End” for my brother an I on the birthday of our Late uncle. It was the song my uncle played at his last moments. I fell in love with the song. The ample voice of the drums. The keys were mystical. The guitar was textured. And the vocals beautifully haunting. This song and many more by The Doors inspired my brother and I to pick up instruments. My brother first learned the keys, and I took up the back beats. This was back in 2018-19. John Densmore was the first drummer to inspire me. Four years later, I’ve grown into a drummer that I could’ve only dreamed of when starting. I owe my journey of drumming to his career and influence. And I am still growing. As a drummer, I love this Video!

I've always said the top three most underrated rock drummers ever are: Alex Van Halen Nick Mason John Desmore. Who can argue that list? And the Sonars sound great. I have a safari kit.

JD had a very distinctive style. It doesnt sound hard or complicated from listening to the music, but learning their songs note per note wasn't too intuitive for me. This also indicates how good of a musician he is, playing something complicated, but making it sound good and fitting to the track requires skill.
