Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RU-vid, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RU-vid. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RU-vid, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

I’ve heard him perform it live with Cass Elliot. I’ve never heard this version and I’m 63 years old it’s rushed and for whatever reason sometimes somebody else takes your song and makes magic out of it the harmonies of Peter Paul, and Mary. her voice, their arrangement and tempo do the song justice. John gave you goosebumps. Peter Paul and Mary will make you cry..

John Denver wrote this song before he became famous. Somehow it got to Peter, Paul and Mary, who had a big hit with it. But it helped him get a record contract with RCA Records and his first hit, "Take Me Home, Country Roads", which should be your next reaction. Keep up the good work, Shawn!

John Denver was popular in the 70’s…Sunshine On Your Shoulders was my favorite song by him, so good, he sang many good songs, but my favorite one will make me cry! 😪🩵🦋

Hey Shawn, great reaction! But you now gotta checkout Peter, Paul, and Mary's classic rendition. Most of us grew up thinking the song was theirs. I didn't hear the John Denver "cover" till about ten years later. Yet your right. Hearing it again today really touched me.

Aww, young John Denver! Such a nice little album also "Rhymes and Reasons" and I love the title song "Rhymes and Reasons!" As a self-proclaimed John Denver expert, he did a lot of versions of "Leaving on a Jet Plane." It was usually with a medley like with "Goodbye Again" in "The Wildlife Concert," paired with "Follow Me" on the "An Evening with John Denver" album (my favorite medley as "Follow Me" is a top 3 favorite song for me), does a duet version with Cass Elliott on "The Midnight Special," his "Greatest Hits" one is slower, and the original "Babe I Hate to Go" is a little faster and I love it! John also did another version of it on his "Last Recordings" album. I hope you get to do my favorite song which no one else really has, "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" and a live version is preferred!

A great song - it's usually performed a little slower, which gives it even more more depth. As others have said, check the live version with Cass Elliott. Not only was John Denver a great singer and songwriter, but he had an endearing warmth and goofy country/hippie sense of humour. His regular TV shows were extremely popular in the early 70s. "Take Me Home, Country Roads" next?

He has sung slower versions of this, some live, through the years that are better and more heart-felt. This version is an early one. Kind of like the one he did with the Mitchell Trio.

As others have suggested, the Peter Paul and Mary version with the haunting 3 part harmonies is a must listen. It is the classic version that is still played on classic rock stations. Studio version please. 🙏

Peter Paul and Mary had a big hit with this song before John started recording his own songs. It's about leaving to go on tour, but it really struck a chord with couples being separated by young men going to Vietnam. I like PPM's version better than this particular performance by John, though he had some great live renditions.

Peter, Paul and Mary had a huge hit with this song. While John Denver wrote it it wasn’t a huge commercial success for him. Nowhere near the success he had with his other songs.

Unfortunately this is the wrong version in my opinion. Other versions by him the song is slowed down at much better. Try the version with Mama Cass from The Midnight Special.

This version you're listening to seems way too fast now that I've heard the live version done with Cass Elliott. Together, they do the song right, IMO. Great reaction!
