A treasure! A man born just before the U.S. civil war who lived to see the beginnings of the Cold War. In addition to him being one of the great figures of American intellectual history in his own right, we have here the speech of a man who was a friend and interlocutor of James and a student of Peirce (themselves great American geniuses connected to the very foundations of American thought in their connections to Emerson). An incredibly illustrious individual! And for all those talking about his moustache, he's not sporting a toothbrush moustache. It's the same chevron style that he wore for much of his adult life, but a combination of differing hair colours (darker at the centre and lighter on the sides), lighting and picture quality makes it look otherwise.
John Dewey is one of the most admirable people in history. His stance is worth popularization at the broadest level. it is a commentary on the drives of monetization of all culture that his worldview is so little know or promulgated; for his attitude towards human life in the world community of people is not enslaved to the primitive primate dominance hierarchy.
