In 70s he was “a British migrant “for Australia, and now he is “a national treasure “??? He is British, born in England. His parents migrated to Australia when he was 10 years old(1959).So,he is a British treasure.🤓
@Dead Well actually, Camie R.-S. is right just because John, moved to Australia in 1959 doesn't mean that he changed his national identity to Australian, because he's still British as well, he's been back to the UK a few times since he moved to Australia, to promote his smash hit You're the Voice on Top of the Pops in London which was a UK top 10 hit at the time, he performed Age of Reason on Terry Wogan's show in 1988, performed at the Prince's trust concert in Birmingham in 1989 and performed in London in 1988, 1991 and 1998. It's just sad that John only had one hit, I mean just think he could've been huge in the UK, I blame his manager for not giving him enough promotion in the UK, and I also blame the UK's self obsession with American music because America has got nothing to do with the UK.
What do think of him now having endorsed the YES campaign, having sold out for a cool 30 million and then having all blown up in his face the referendum lost huh?! Like Ray Martin before he's a hated and marked man for being a traitor/sell out some 35 years later?! He can never enter the show spotlight again you realize and he helped divide our country too after 40 years?!!. I'm sure at the time, it must of felt magical to be a part off this video clip?! Have no reservations that now he is finished!!!!!
My all time favourite song by Farnsy. I’m blown away of how this song is so relevant today, and is still a reminder about human nature. Such a visionary and a gem of a guy.
unbelievably John Farnham was 30 years ahead of recent times, this song is more timely than ever. And this is real music to hear, enjoy and deeply think the message behind the lyrics.
The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it. Albert Einstein
Tragically, he wasn't 30 years ahead. This was the spirit of the late 80s. It was a period of extraordinary wisdom and forward thinking. Then the 90s began and our future was smothered in its cot. You're looking at the crossroads and the road not taken.
While I agree but this track is based off 80's enthusiasm and naiveness because it was SO good back then and nothing more..It's all too easy to be open and caring to the "Age Of Reason" concept when times were good, now after some 31 years later it's the concept of go woke and now broke...A growing silent minority are now no longer interested in that concept anymore as the "Age Of Isolation" and Pro Exit U.N. are now creeping in.
This brings back nostalgia. Front door was always unlocked , back when you knew your neighbours , back when any kid your age was a friend . And back when the milk man came knocking….
You left your front door unlocked in the 1980s?! You daredevil! My neighbour had lived next door since the 1960s - he definitely told us they used to leave the keys in the ignition when they parked at the shopping centre, but I never saw that era! And we did stick with the milkman for as long as we could.
Thanks for your love and support towards me on my page I really appreciate you and can’t thank you enough. Write me with the address above to be among the lucky few who stand a chance for a meet and greet when I am in your city or city nearby 💗💞💘💓💓
Andrew, Ahead of its time YES as is the Voice which is RIGHT ON TIME today in 2023 for October 14th Referendum & running with US Olivers Anthony's Rich men North Of Richmond which has collected 63 million hits on RU-vid in a month.
Lolz the Yes referendum?! That didn't quite work huh?! But Farnsey did help divide the country now and he will forever be remembered for that now for being a traitorous sellout. But he's sitting on his 30 million right now, Ole half jaw....Half of the population hates him now sigh...
I'm born in 1980 an consider John Farnham an Angel with his voice alone. A true visionary , Every one of his tracks is useful and purposeful to future generations.
THAT PIANO IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS SONG, IS BEAUTIFUL, PERFECTLY PLACED AND WHEN LISTENING AGAIN TO JOHN, HOW COULD WE ALL NOT LOVE HIS VOICE, LOVELY TONE
Yes, look at Melbourne this week, 26/09/2021. The Age of reason is on the Georgia Guide Stones, we saw that carved into stone and headed to this song and spotted your post, very good!
We’re in a time when all the scum is rising or the surface, hence all the madness. The Earth is going through a cleansing so to speak. It will take time, we all just have to hold the line, not comply and these tyrants will be done. They’re hanging by a thread, you could say we’ve already won. And then the new prosperous age will come about.
Hi I'm an aboriginal, from the N.T east Arnhem land do was my family Still believe in culture and our God , the father the son and the holy spirit. 💛✌️🙏⭐🌈🤠💛💛💛
Farnham really was a "one hit wonder" here in his birth country. Ask anyone in England from the 80s, and they'll name You're The Voice as the John Farnham song they know. And it's a great tune, I can't deny. Very rousing. Kind of an anthem, I suppose. But.......for me this one hits spots You're The Voice doesn't. I can't explain it.....Age Of Reason is just utterly and truly phenomenal. And I'm so so so glad I tuned into my local radio station (Invicta FM) that day, as a teen, in the late 80s when I did. Because, had I not, this song's abysmal showing in the UK charts means I would never ever have been introduced to one of my all time favourite tracks....
Just watched a John Farnham special and god was it special. He’s lost some very good mates just recently and he him self just got the all clear from cancer. He’s under gone a fair bit of savage surgery to get it out tho. I thought we were going to loose him to 😥. Hopefully we get to keep Jonny on the planet for while longer yet. Prayers to John, family and friends, may he come good 🙏🏻🫶🏻❤️. Love ya John .
Schade das John Farnham (bis auf ,,Your the voice") in Europa nicht so populär wurde. Tolle Musik die man sich nach all den Jahren immer wieder gerne anhört.
His hairstyles made for this and so many Songs he did in my era 85-89.Getting old really suxs yikes omg scary gosh what can we say he's 75 hard to believe it seemed yesterday now we talking about it 30.40.50 years etc etc and so on.Loved him when he helped LRB in The Other Guy what a song his Vocals adds to memories
Brings tears to my eyes to, makes me reflect on Australia and how much it has gifted my life with its beauty and innocence. What a beautiful land we live in and what a gift the Whispering Jack is for us 🧡🧡
Whispering Hack needs to go back home to England to spend his final days. He's no longer welcome in this country anymore, after everything he was given, all the privileges he had for 50 years. This is how he repays us by endorsing a corrupt, racist yes campaign which lost. But it doesn't matter as he has his 30 million for being a traitor sellout. He should go back to where he came from.
The way he gently passes by everyone at the end of the clip and just commands the room with his presence. Man, I really miss the Australia of yesterday..
Do you still agree with his "Age Of Reason" concept now in 2019 after some 31 years ago?! I was probably near your age around then and yeah the track gave me some chills to the bone as a 10 yr old back then but somehow I had my doubts back then only to have them realized now in the 21st century....
As of 2022 John has throat cancer. I pray in God's name to interceed on our behalf to heal John's body otherwise may he have a place with the Cherubim's in Heaven.
@JohnFarnham-ln8uh hi John you probably don't know me but my brother years back drove you by taxi to your home. You took him through the back entrance in Melbourne. He said you had the best attitude for a person who is famous because you talked to him like a normal person. You tipped him good too. From that conversation you sound like a top notch well balanced man. I been a fan of yours since I was in year 7 in 1987. Your voice is remarkable too. The Taxi ride was just under 1hr long. This happened around 1998-99ish I think.
@snap-n-shoot life is about, choices, family, country, area, environment, classes, lifestyle, quality or lack there of in life, your job on the planet, is to find away to make the difficult decisions better, no matter how good and bad about it is. This planet is about experiences, experiences equals knowledge, experience and knowledge equals wisdom. You understand all three, you share your wisdom by passing it on to others. Lessons are learned in sickness, just as much as a billionaire operating at the highest echelons of his prime performances. It's what you do in life that matters and how to learn and understand humility. The human soul can not die, death is not to be feared. To become the image of God, we must learn every which way to handle yourself through the quagmire of choices, and that is also to learn how to remember your divinity within a finite body. You are much more than your body and not all of you is in your body. You are a multi dimensional person having a limited life on earth. You came to the planet before your mindset went into a coma. What would be the point being here if you had all your knowledge of other lives you had right now. No point being here to learn on high-school earth, you'd already would have passed your grades. Don't fear anything if sometimes you can connect more consciously on a higher level than your humbled beginnings. Don't rush this life, because even the smallest of small details has it's moments of beauty. Not just the determination of a goal you are wanting to achieve. What's the point strolling into the forest if you forgot why you were there in the first place.
+uriinus It's a pop song version of the Georgia Guidestones (which speak of a coming age of reason). In the last frame, the metronome represents the Eye of Providence - the All-Seeing Eye of Freemasonry, agnostic Judaism (i.e., Jewish Zionism) and Satanism - and the unfinished pyramid it sits atop. All the grey, sepia-drenched people represent ghosts, i.e., the masses that have been killed off to meet these Rosicrucian's goal of a world population of 500 million. Also, notice that almost every single person is white, and conservative. This Satanic worldview of Freemasonry and atheistic Zionism (Jewish Zionism) sees the white Jewish race in cahoots with white agnostics and atheistic Christians as governing - enslaving - every single human being. Their outlook is purely white supremacist, with Jews being considered white. The Guidestones were commissioned by a man using the pen name "R. C. Christian", which clearly stands for Roman Catholic Christian, this being a snide and sneering middle finger to authentic Christianity, which is originally a spiritual teaching, as opposed to the materialism of the Freemasons and Jewish Zionists. It is also an admission that the Zionists and their collaborators already control the Vatican. Having said that, this is a good tune and well performed.
Just like John I emigrated to this great country called Australia, living in the U.K.when Your the Voice was in the charts. A brilliant singer with a magnificent voice very apt song with is what's going on in the world today.
Unfortunately Melbourne is not a pleasant place right now. Pray for us here please. We are living in an age of no reason. We are threatened by our government.
grew up at as a kid listening to his vinyl records. His face should be on coins and money; No ones comes close to the heart and power he projected. His music writing is gold. Australian music at its best. voice control is next level. . He poured his heart and soul into his music and you feel every moment. Its one in many generations experience.
Age of reason. WHY can't we love each other. FUTURE GENERATIONS depends on it .We were all brought up in a better world 🌎 as children ❤They deserve that also .
From the day that we were born we've been heading down a track Sometimes it's made for good sometimes for bad But if we look behind us there's a wave coming down Carrying us forward to a new age What about the world around us How can we fail to see And now that our fathers have gone And we've been left to carry on What about the age of reason So why can't we be still why can't we love each other Is kindness an ancient skill buried by our blindness And if we look behind us there's a wind blowing in To create the age of reason If we consider carefully the options put before us So much wisdom so much love so much waiting for us And if we look ahead there's the sun and the seasons Another day another age of reason
I remember around about 1993 and Farnsie did a concert in the middle of the street in Hobart. Me and some friends weren't keen on him, so we started heckling. I can't remember what we said or what his comebacks were but he totally destroyed us and all we could do was slink away, tail between our legs. I've had great respect for him ever since.
It breaks my heart to think people now, don't even know of this man. My dad called him a skrecher! but he was always human and life in my eyes growing up.
He has a great message, I think a society based on reason, logic, science, mental and emotional health, and just being nice and kind to each other would be the best type of society possible, to live in
This song came out when I was being terrorized in 5th grade (whatever the equivalent is elsewhere), but since the past is dead and gone I hear with a clear and loving mind a clear and loving song. John Farnham has a great voice and a great heart. He's a huge influence both vocally and lyrically on me. Today's music doesn't care. There is no real love in it. People are not singing anymore they are making themselves into instant touch and go pop stars. That is not what music is all about. NO! Music is about what's in your heart and expressing what's in your heart. I hope to bring something new to the table and I'm geared up for it. The big part of that "Something new" is rewinding music back to when it was great music and not rubbish fit more for a garbage can than a record album! John Farnham is great. Thanks for inspiring me, John.
I was only a kid around 9-10 years old but loved this guy , he wasn’t a sleaze he always sang about powerful topics I had no idea what those songs meant until I grew older and listened again and realised this man was truly the best role model for Aussies
One of his best the man is a messenger from above just listening to him makes me want to take action you ain't australian if you didn't grow up listening to John Farnham
Now that our Father's are gone and we be left to carry on...how can we fail to see... This beautiful man is one of the greatest voices of reason we have... When are we going to learn? Can we face our fathers with what the world has become, and so many men gave their lives for what they thought was freedom? What have we done to honour this apart from pomp and ceremony? Love to John and his health
I just love the 1980's. Decade of my youth. Love the cars, obvious political landscape, music and simplicity of it. This song fits so well in this atmosphere.
This man, John Farnham, or “Farnsie” as he is affectionately known by us Australians, is and always will be a national treasure. Thank you for the memories, sir ❤
Long live John Farnham voice and music omg i was born i 82 and this song still gives me shivers!!! whispering jack you legend I salute you Mr John Farnham.Magic, epic lyrics, the voice oh its complete.
Out of the blue, just remembered The Voice and Age of Reason. One of my first albums from my music loving elder brother. Was listening to this at the age of 8 when it came out and decades later-it is still powerful and relevant. When music was music. Great and powerful message which spread to Southern Africa. So fortunate to listen to such
I loved this song when first come out forty years later still listening to this masterpiece with a very powerful message I wish this generation had music 🎶 like the 80s the best how lucky to been able to live in such a amazing era . Wishing you a speedy recovery john 💕🙏
@@stephentrudgeon2646 Wrong, he's Australian - only British-born. The family emigrated when he was 10 and thank heavens for that or he might not have produced such bright and optimistic music. I'm a Kiwi and wouldn't even want him to be Kiwi... it was his DESTINY to become an Aussie and his artistry is interwoven into both of our cultures. This beautiful song still speaks to my soul after all these years.
@@stephentrudgeon2646 Actually he WAS technically British up until 1988 when he was made an Australian citizen AND was also named AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR 1987 during the Bicentennial celebrations. So, he was considered Australian the year before he became a citizen! END OF! *mic drop*
Man, this Dude could SING. I loved his early days with Little River Band the most, but he still "had it" in the 80's. Well done, Australia!! Love, from Canada. I know he was born in England but I think of him as an Ozzie.
He had hits in Australia from the late 60 to late 70s. His time with LRB was actually the lull in his career until he broke through again with You're the Voice in 1986.
Exclusive Exceptional Entertainer. JOHN "VOICE" FARNHAM. What We Need Now-Age Of Reason. Blindness. Fail To See. So Much Waiting For Us. Love and Wisdom.
1988 BMG Australia Limited. I was ten years old when this single shook the world of music ... ... at a time when great composers and delicious melodies indicated to our hearts that art could be heard ... without the need to see,, but in our senses it drew various forms of sensations even more pleasant than sight.
I have always loved this brilliant song...Including John Farnham's lovely voice. I just heard it late this morning on the radio, and it moved me to......You Tube. Search...Glad I have now 'saved it'. As this song seems to echo the thoughts, and attitudes, of our HRH Prince Philip, and Sir David Attenborough...And HRH Prince Charles, and many more who have these lyrics as part of their life goals. Great John!! A truly brilliant song. Can I dedicate this song to Prince Phillip's memory? 18.4.2021. Having watched the live broadcast of his family funeral in the early hours of this morning, on TV, like many millions around the world. .What a man, what a life!! What a legacy..... God bless his family, with deep sympathy. Thoughts, and much respect, from.... New Zealand. x
Have you never listened to "Your the voice" ? This guy's voice is incredible even now ! Watch him with Coldplay singing Your the voice last year and see what you think then ...........
A great enduring song. The lyrics are ageless. And one of the best all time mullet hair cuts. When Glenn Wheatley helped John re-invent himself, together, they created a masterpiece of Australian music
@@squidjames7735 And I suppose I'm as English as Marmite and a pint of porter! Half Scot, half Polish Brit here who loves his beer, and great music! Cheers to all in the commonwealth!
