Me too! I did get tho see him in concert a few years ago, that was amazing! He is such a likeable guy, as well as an incredible singer. After that, I really appreciated his talent. I think we were spoilt for choice growing up. So many talented Aussie artists and bands.
I have many favourite songs of John's, but this one is right at the top. What a voice! And he used it as a warm-up/sound check. Most singers would give their eye teeth to be able to sing this song and he uses it as a sound check. Hes a magician. Such talent!
Hi Kathy! Welcome to the Lounge! He is very talented. Praying for his health. Don't forget tonight's Live Stream! Come hang out with the Lounge Lizards & request your favorite song! Here's the link. See you at 6pm EST! Cheers! ru-vid.comtZVm9vImJ0E?feature=share
Hard to believe but this was a sound check which someone recorded. Epic! Another good one is Long way to the top with the MSO. Amazing Grace with his back up singers is another. If you want to see John later on when he was 54, check out John Farnham - When The War Is Over (Live) [The Last Time: Melbourne 2003] ❤
Not a bad version for a sound check 😂 he used this song as his warm up song for his evening shows. John has so much power in his voice that he never blew out his voice. Blows my mind. And kudos to you for being a woman after my own heart & finishing every last drop of wine! 🥂😂
Glenn Shorrick was the original lead singer for Little River Band, and performed Reminiscing; John performed Reminiscing when he was with the band, but didn't record it. He has sung it in some of his concerts.
He did some beautiful duets with Olivia Newton-John. The Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony, "Dare to Dream" and ""Please Don't ask Me"". They were the best of friends, and just lovely together.
Anything that John sings is brilliant! Always worth watching his LIVE performances, he is an entertainer who performs better with audience reactions; and he loves it... "this is fun" is often his comment. Gethsemane gives you an another idea of his wide range of genre. John is a great human, no ego, appreciates his band and backup singers.
I'm liking what I'm seeing & hearing from him so far! I have a couple others here, if you haven't already seen them...? You should join me and the "Lounge Lizards" for our Live stream on Monday night, if you're not busy? We go live on my other channel, "Reaction Diaries" at 6pm EST. @@TheSpeakEasyLounge Some call it his warm up song. One of the technicians apparently taped it one time. No live performances of it. He also does a jaw dropping ACDC cover: its a long way to the top with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. Ill get the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-73X_z_zW4Sg.html
Yes he did sing Reminising when he was the singer. You would need to look for the version with John in it. His most famous song is You’re the Voice. Him singing it with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Actually anything at that concert is amazing. Love John.
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge John's version of Reminiscing while fronting Little River Band is awesome m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NspIOkh9EVc.html
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge There's never a wrong version of John lol but yes, the live version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is out of this world. Here's a link if you're interested ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6m2m_9Uijso.html
You have to remember that this isn’t a song that is included in John’s show. It is ONLY a “sound check” because John knew that it would test the P.A.. system to the limits. Then John would just play a great two and a half hour show with no problem for himself or anyone in his band. They all just killed it 🇦🇺👏👏👏🦘❤
Glen sang Reminiscing in LRB, but Farnsey was lead singer for 3-4 years. Have you done JFs duet with Olivia Newton John? Its called Please Dont Ask Me. Mesmerising.
You're hitting all the big high energy ones. Might be time for a slower calmer one. Burn for You, Please Don't Ask Me with Olivia Newton John, Forever Blue with Little River Band[no video available] or Rolling Home or...
@@elizabethscott7660 Agreed, although anything that John sings is brilliant! Always worth watching his LIVE performances, he is an entertainer who performs better with audience reactions; and he loves it... "this is fun" is often his comment.
LRB original lead singer was Glen Shorrock then John stepped in for a bit when Glen left. And yes John did a version of the song 'Reminiscing' that you should react to as well, you will love it.

There is no live version of this as this was one of the songs that John used to do a sound check for the band before their concerts, a real shame. But they do a real great cover also of ACDC's 'It's a long way to the top' try the 1994 video concert, just awesome..
Glen Shorrock was the lead singer of Little River band. He left, and John replaced him for a 5 year stint. Shorrock was the singer for Remaining. John didn't really hit his straps until after he had left LRB.
No that was Glen Shorrock who sung that in little river band John filled in for a few years but he struggled being in a band John more a solo artist he even said learnt that he's only a solo artist The restraints of being in a band was difficult where's solo he has freedom's you don't in bands Have you done his AC/DC cover along way to the top with Melbourne symphony orchestra He also sung with Tom Jones my Yiddish on variety show hey hey its Saturday it was spare of the moment by host of show never sung together before as far as I know But after this many times when Tom Jones was in town Tom and John sung a long way to the top together as well You'll love this one as a female a Ballard John Farnham and Oliver newton John titled Don't Ask Me very beautiful Also look at another Aussie ledgen Jimmy barnes and John Farnham titled when something wrong with my baby Also Jimmy barnes with Tina Turner titled simply the best a amazing mix of voices Cheers 🦘🇦🇺👍

Thank you - I've only just found your channel, and there are worse rabbit holes to scurry down than Our Farnsey, aka The Voice. To really get why John is so loved here, you need to check out You're the Voice again, but this time, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - same concert as Help. I promise you won't be sorry! - Two other absolutely joyous gems from the same concert are: *Playing to Win, a high octane song he wrote when he was in the Little River Band, and *It's a Long Way to the Top, which is a glorious cacophony of vocals, band and orchestra - just a joyous wall of sound! Glenn Shorrock was lead singer of LRB when they released Reminiscing. John replaced Glenn when he went solo. John was also the first person Brian May asked to join Queen to replace Freddie after he died. John turned it down because he gets too homesick for family and Australia.

The only reason this exists is one of his sound techs hitting record. A John Farnham concert generally have attendees ranging from to 8 to 80. He never performed it because he recognised it probably wouldn’t fit his audience
This recording is a live soundcheck just John & his band warming up . He didn’t know that he’s crew was recording . Apparently John as only performed Black Dog only once in front of attendance in 1994 . John’s 2 guitarist Stuart Fraser ( from Australian band Noiseworks another rabbit hole ) and Brett Garsed that has been in the Farnham band for over 30 years , both are hard rock trained musicians so let’s them have some fun . Glenn Shorrock is the original Little River Band singer that sang most of LRB’s American hits . John’s LRB hits are ; * The Other Guy 1983 * Down On The Border 1983 Australian hit * We Two 1983 * Playing To Win 1984 ( John’s signature LRB song the only LRB song that John continued to sing at every concert after he left LRB in 1986 . Playing To Win has become a sporting anthem in Australia . * When The War Is Over 1986 ( originally a Cold Chisel song LRB covered it when writer drummer the late Steve Prestwich of Cold Chisel joined LRB after Cold Chisel broke up in 1984 . Sadly LRB’s version wasn’t successful . It was only released by LRB’s former recording company capital records to cash in John’s solo success late 1986 with You’re The Voice .
Wow- thanks for the great info. I always liked LRB. I never knew who the lead vocalist was. Just knew what played on the radio. I always loved "Reminiscing"! I Just watched John singing it. EVEN BETTER!
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge John just has more energy than the laid back original singer Glenn Shorrock on those classic LRB songs like Reminiscing . Little River Band fans was split up about John joining LRB while they so successful with original singer Glenn Shorrock . Reality Little River Band was in the red financially from high cost of touring America left with only the songwriters getting paid . With 3 major songwriters within the band members started fighting who get the most songs on the albums . LRB 1981 album Time Exposure produced by legendary Beatles producer George Martin was pretty much recorded with members at different times . So in 1982 Glenn Shorrock wanted a break for awhile but the other members wanted to continue, so he was pretty much fired . LRB manager the late Glenn Wheatley was also John Farnham’s manager and LRB’s founding member Graham Goble did produced John’s 1980 album Uncovered that featured John’s rearrangement of the Beatles classic Help . So Graham recruited John . John’s first day with LRB in 1982 he was already in the studio recording because all the songs was already written for the album The Net 1983 . After a American tour 2 of original LRB wasn’t a fan of John’s stage presents they believed that he was upstaging the rest of the band . So they stuck down John’s microphone lead to the stage so he was restricted to move around the stage . Well John was pissed off and there was an argument after the concert that lead those 2 original members leaving LRB after the tour was finished. 1984 with those original members gone and Graham Goble the only original member left in LRB they decided to change your style to more new wave synthesised pop rock that didn’t sit well with the diehard soft harmony rock fans . The underrated Playing To Win album 1985 was a flop at that time but it was John’s blueprint for he’s solo career that happened in 1986 . Capital Records America didn’t like John in LRB but LRB had a 8 album deal to fulfil Capital Records didn’t promote John Farnham’s LRB albums capital records released a Greatest Hits instead that overshadowed John’s 3 LRB’s albums . John keyboardist David Hirschfelder and manager Glenn Wheatley left LRB after all commitments with Capital Records was completed with the No Reins album 1986 to complete John’s make it break album Whispering Jack . The album that end up breaking all Australian records domestically .
You MUST MUST review John Farnham Live with the melbourne Symphony orchestra . AC DC "Its a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll". THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND

Much better than the original AC DC performance as agreed by the millions who have viewed it. Full on band and orchestra. You must see this for yourself.
Hi Narelle! Welcome to the Lounge! Would you mind sharing a link? I've never heard of him? or Them? Sounds really interesting! Wait, is that Jesus Christ Superstar?
Glen Shorrock ( who like John Farnham, and Olivia Newton John, were English born) sung Reminiscing. LRB were a brilliant band. Now, sadly, there are no original members left, and someone, not even Australian, owns the name/trademark.
That is sad. I loved LRB, at least the songs I knew. I think I owned the 45 of "Reminiscing" when I was a teenager! lol. I don't remember much of their other stuff. We are just getting old and everyone is leaving us! :(

I asked about that in a previous comment and I did go watch it! It was BETTER! I always loved the radio version, but had never heard it done like John did! WOW!
Sadly no footage of John performing Black Dog Live. We are just lucky the sound engineer decided to push the record button when John and his band uaed this as a sound check.
