He deserves to be up there on the Pantheon of Western music. For those with a discerning ear, - he IS! A rich and fertile musical imagination.

My all time favorite piano concerto, Field's nocturnes I can listen to all day.

I totally agree with you Jack. This is real music. It's a misfortune that we can't hear more of it on the radio or tv so our youngters could listen to it and appreciate it. (but sometimes not even that works).

He's as beautiful as his playing. A child of the Muses. Just listened to Field's second piano concerto with the maestro. Oh I forgot this subscription bears his name no embarrassment I hope

Very beautiful playing, especially the slow movement (2nd movement)! Very relaxing after a hard day at the office John Filed remains a very underrated composure.

This concerto and his second concerto are my favorites by Fields. His second is said to be one of the most beautiful piano concertos every composed.

I have a recording of all his piano concertos. He's like the Mozart of Ireland. I cannot believe the amount of expression in his music.

Bravissimo Paolo. I wish more played the Field Concerto. What an elegant performance! I recently recorded the Nocturne, no. 5 in Bb on my latest album: Nocturne no. 5 in Bb by John Field performed by James Spencer. I enjoyed your performance Signore Restani immensely!

From the very first of his lovely concerti, all of these works deserve a place in the modern concert hall. Of course, our American dumbed down society is too addicted to the vast proliferation of I Pod effluvia and trash commercial noise to have the slightest interest in all of this delicate and subtle body of delicious and wonderful works

Alicia: read the preface by the literary genius Franz Liszt to the Schirmer edition of the Field nocturnes- he considered this music to be sublime and inimitable in the history of Western European Art Music; these works inspired Chopin to write his own nocturnes and the genius of Field is no lesser than Chopin in both concerto and nocturnes- his orchestrations are far better than Chopins. I would suggest that you take your kids to classical music concerts because the live thing is the only thing

John Field (Dublin, jul1782, Moscou 23 jan 1837).
