Diamond P Sports brings you into the life of drag racing legend, John Force! We join Steve Evans as he goes into the home, the tracks, and the mind of John Force.
I have tremendous respect for Mr. Force. He lived the Once attainable American dream when it was still possible to do so. Now days. All the money stays in the pockets of the wealthy.
Here it is almost 2023 and they still have not made a movie about this mans life shit the made Shirley's movie in 82 theres even a Don Garlets movie we need a John Force movie.
54:18 - This has gotta be one of the best-told stories of witnessing a drag race I've ever heard. You can tell that was the first moment John put himself on the other side of the fiberglass and thought what everyone else thinks when they see a loved one strapped to one of these beasts. I've watched this video about half a dozen times. And every time, I listen to that story about 10 times in a row.
I've been there in person at a number of his wins thought out the 90s and 2000s ATL Bristol Charlotte Gainesville Rockingham was just at his 152nd at Charlotte l told everyone around me if you listen you can probably here him talking before he gets out of the car. Love this guy he's one of the last great champions
Dedicated to persistent determination to become number one, at first everything that could go wrong did. Yet, to become the best knowing what not to do perfects performance proving
You are number one Winston Champion and the first full body rear engine dragster at Stardust Raceway, gladly Castrol Oil and sparkplug donors tamed you down enough for you to start being Number 1! By Design Olds- (Pete Findley snd Bill Coon had Worlds Fastest Olds in early 60's) mobile 4.99et. Sorry Gene 5.0's no longer the record, 95 Winston's Champion Hound Dog bridesmaid's is having baby girls.
I'm so amazed what he's gone through to get where he is today. Unbelievable. Force is my favorite Racer of all times. He Deserves every thing he's worked for he's my hero of Drag racing..
It really is unbelievable isn't it?? I worked at John Force Racing on the AAA car and got to work on John's Car a few times when our other JFR car would need help, but yeah he really is a great dude, that was the Pinnacle of my life so far for sure, so glad I got to know him a little bit , doubt he remembers me now though it's been a decade almost, but I always love this and then he ends up having your back when you work for him, crazy
I used to watch when John was racing & then one day it all clicked on me, he was winning when he didn't need to win & after awhile he just went the other way, one day & I'll never root for Force ever again. IF a man has to cheat like he does, he also needs to get out of racing & stay out for GOOD. Good bye John Force, you CHEATER!!
actually he didn't cheat he did something nobody ever thought of with a two car team. Use the other one for R&D and as a blocker to help him win championships. Truly amazing. There are times when it is questionable other teams of his winning and he was their opponent but nothing conclusive because the NHRA investigated and put a quick close on it. Seriously how do you cheat when the round is done in 4 seconds. You win or you go home. If you win you go on to the next round. Greatest drag racer in NHRA history and nobody will ever touch his records. Austin Coil was the greatest crew chief ever. NO disrespect to the other crew chiefs many of them are great. But he took a huge chance (Leap of Faith) coming off two championships and teaming up with a guy that never won a race. Half the time he didn't even make it down the track.
I met him in Vegas. He was all alone, just sitting out by his Funny Car wearing jeans and a "T" shirt. Don't remember which car. It was early 2000's or maybe late 90's. He was sitting quietly under a canopy and sweating his Ass Off. I don't think anyone knew who he was. I recognized him immediately and started walking over for an autograph when he got up to go into his trailer, I guess. I turned and walked away. He said "Oh, are u coming over here? - need something?" I said "it's ok, I don't wanna keep you" He sat back down with a huge smile and "I got nowhere to be - no problem" He signed a photo for me and asked about my day -If I was having a good day. It was brutally hot that day. I've met more than a few famous people and they were all nice enough. But I'll never forget that moment. What a nice man to do that for just one guy who didn't matter at all.
I got a photo with John when I was 4 years old. He held me up and let my dad take a picture of us. John Force was already my idol at the time. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. That is, until 26 years later in 2017, Maple Grove. Me and my Pop went to watch qualifying on a hot Saturday (nearly melted my phone in the stands). We walked through the pits and John was doing his usual thing, signing autographs for anyone seeking one. I bided my time and almost got cold feet, but my dad had that picture blown up to poster size, and I wanted to see if I could get John to sign it. Finally he notices me and waves me over. I explain that I'm a lifelong fan, and I show him the original picture we took in '91. He smiled and said something about getting old, then I showed him the blown-up version of the photo. He immediately signed not only the poster, but also the original picture, then took another picture with me (although he did turn to another fan because, well... John is busy on race weekends). I have the poster, with the photo, framed in my bedroom. Reading your account of meeting him reminded me of that moment. John is one of a small handful of celebrities I've ever met, but he's got the biggest personality and the kindest nature of anyone I've met ever. The guy is truly larger than life.
He did the same for me except it was in , Indy of all places. It was back in 09 I believe and that's when JFR started the shop across the street from DSR. I went to check out the new shop and ran into John, and as u know in Indy, the drivers and teams are busy as hell. But yet he took the time to talk for a few minutes and to autograph a specific shirt for my granddaughter. Yeah, the man is one of a kind
Dale Earnhardt, Dennis Anderson, John Force. All legends who's sport is simply not the same without them. Rip Dale 😭😭 but it's good to see Anderson still around and Force still out kicking ass on the track 🤘
God Bless your words cause b4 reading your post I was saying 2 my self with a lump in my throat ''nothing is the same anymore '' cause racing like that is long in the past
I really enjoy seeing these old replay videos...There is NO ONE in nhra like John Force and will likely never will be. John is one of a kind is what makes him so unique..
@@joevald3 What do you mean? Of course there were many before him and he gives all the credit that's due and then some. I think John is as humble as they come. He's never at a loss for words, but that's the passion coming out.
One of the most Iconic Drag racing gentleman I have ever had the humble privilege of meeting.. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!.. upload.. thank you from British Columbia, Canada.
Steve and D/P best U Can Get /Better Than To Days Lot . But There Still .One and Only J/Force Now 2020 Hes Still Going Strong With his Girls Doing The Same .Great Sports men of 2 day . NO One will be like he IS . Good Luck John . From UK
This was awesome and he must have thought after back to back that he was unstoppable. Had the air let out of his sails in 1992 with Cruz Pedregon winning the FC title but then he went on a tear that nobody could ever dream of. winning 10 in a row and 12 in 13 seasons. No other team in the history of any sport has ever been so dominant. The closest is the Boston Celtics winning 11 titles in 13 seasons.
Me and my wife have been on a John Force binge and can't believe this video slipped by, but I'm sure glad I found it today! This is fantastic stuff! First time I've seen John's mother interviewed. What a great woman! She raised all those boys and a sister if I'm not mistaken? I love this entire family! John's never at a loss for words and we love it! Man! Thanks for posting this!!!!
I'm 66 and too old to have heroes. I could write paragraphs about this man. Instead, I'll just say, "My inspiration. My reason to keep trying. My hero."
It's insane to see them leaning over a running top fuel motor working on them. They are a ticking bomb, even at idle. I would be so scared. Very frightening.
Later in John's life Laura turned into a cold block of ice. I dont care for her in the least bit. John still races and runs a multi million dollar corporation, always carries a smile and does it all with a broken heart.
Austin Coil +John Force=unbeatable has always been the man for me i was on the starting line when he ran 4.996 in 1993 at the Texas Motorplex and they went wild i was also there when Eddie Hill ran the very first 4.99 in Top Fuel 1988 it was good to hear Steve Evans voice again you are missed NO one better at what Steve did the only reason Pedregon won the championship because John and Austin started testing for next year that all
Well done video, thank you for putting it altogether and letting us watch it. On John Force, sure he's loud, maybe a wee bit (LOL!!) crude & crass at times, but anyone that loved going to the races and also watched them on TV whenever possible, well us race-fans got to see him & his team make their way from the small struggling team they were, into the giants they grew to be. And I like that he's the way he his, 'Loud & Proud!' and that he stands up for himself & takes no shit. I grew up with some of my dad's friends who at the time were having some pretty hard luck times and sometimes some of them would live with us, men who were proud & when excited they were similarly loud. They were good men of true honesty & hardworking too, all of them.
He joined us at our table one night in Gainesville. We all had a blast talking and drinking with The Force. The lady who he was sitting beside didn't even know who he was. It was hilarious. That's been over twenty five years ago and he's still the man. Love you John Force. A living legend.
NHRA, From all us real racers/fans... Bring back a AA/FA Class!!! Modern FC Chassis, Cut em back to a BIG single pump, and one MSD mag... that's it! Watch your viewers come back within a month! Just saying guys, the cookie cutters of today I haven't watched any NHRA in 5yrs.
Where's the story of how he got into drag racing? I wanted to be a drag racer when I was a kid. At 16, mom gave me a car, grandma gave me a car, dad paid for an engine, grandma paid for two engines, I paid for three transmissions, tires, brakes, etc... Did it one season and they all pulled the plug. Way, way too expensive for middle income people.
Well he's on Fire again in 2024 The Man n banged up pretty good this time at 73 yrs old Blowed Up plus Hit the Wall n just got out of CCU in hospital he got burned again there not saying a lot that I've seen. Greatest Funny Car Driver Ever oh he was leading in points when he wrecked.Bad Ass Old Man My Hero

So I seen Alex and no u. And a year ago or so I discovered Stay Tuned. I’m a huge RU-vid guy since 20. Anyway, I love ur content and I usually catch ur new videos the first hour, no shit. Thanks for the explanation and I’m so glad everything is good with Family, way to be a great Dad. All three of us are great and u all know what ur good at. I think u are a great team together. I’m sorry this is so long. I love ur videos and can’t wait for the mustang. Just an idea, Has anyone ever super or Pro charged that motor. Pro charger would be awesome, just saying. U guys are awesome, later
Awesome interview and some great stories from one of the best story tellers in the racing business. I've had spent plenty times sitting with, John and other drivers in his pit after qualifying on Friday and Saturday nights n sitting there drinking a beer with these guys and listening to their stories about things that's happened at past races. Most of em so funny that it would make me bust out laughing. Anyway, John Force is the best, not only behind the wheel of a Top Fuel Funny Car, but also at putting smiles on fans faces, and his story telling is the best. Ill never forget the great times I've had with, John thru the mid 90s to 2018. I Haven't been able to make it to the races since. Get well John, miss n love ya brother
John force the greatest funny car driver to ever raced a funny car. When today anoucer talk how how he shortens the track by deep stage. My money is still on force evertime he pulls in the berms he is the man. Always have been ans always be the man . Hell garlets came in to Indy wanting to go three hundred in the quarter I think he did. But John had done that many years
Yeah John Force has been a "force to be reckoned with for so many years and I for one 1⃣ can only imagine what being a car owner but not an owner/driver will be like for John but he's already shown that he can be a "force to be reckoned with as an owner because of the drivers he's been able to sign onto his still growing race team (s) and his ability to get big name sponsors to finance his continuing racing dreams 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
