I'm mexican, and it's crazy how a whole genre of our traditional music is based off european polkas (thanks to german settlers from a long time ago) and we dance it in a similar way I'm so proud of our culture, and even more now that I see how people in the other side of the world are keeping it alive in their homelands. Listen to "El Cerro del La Silla" and "la bella italia cadetes de linares" to hear the similarities.

My Great-Grandfather was Henry (Hank) Schneider who played with Paul Weingardt until the accident. I play this music for my 2-yo daughter and she loves it. Glad the musician and music bug still runs through her blood.

Watching the dancers reminds me of many Saturday nights spent at the Dutch Hop's in the early 1950's dancing to Adolph Lessers music at the hall in Greeley Co. I also attended a couple wedding dances, one held in Greeley the other in Windsor, both very memorable occasions.
