You gotta practice playing 16th notes on all the strings, I've learned. It gets easier when that's one of your practice techniques but damn does it hurt like hell when you're tired.
I'm thinking all the great front men will have a unique way of dancing and moving around. It's sort of a hallmark of one even. Like it's part of the whole package of expressing themselves more or less unfiltered in any way or form. Anyways i'll only truly trust a guy who moves in a for him natural way. Freely - without thinking about it
That 'bass' line was originally done on a keyboard. That Flea does it on bass is mind blowing. Try it yourself and see how you go. I've been playing bass for over 20 years and this bass line is crazy fast! Flea is a beast!
I like to think someone, somewhere, who doesn't know who the Red Hot Chili Peppers are; are wondering who and why there is a dude busting out the funky moves in the middle of the stage.
"Hey, like the band. Boy with girl's voice and little-fella-plays-bass-like-a-Moog". But someone should tell them, when you're successful, you don't need your skeevy mate to get up out of the audience and dance. You can afford a real girl!"
If I'm ever depressed, I watch this video. John who is in ecstasy singing; Flea who mesmerizes me with his finger work; the drummer with his cigarette hanging out of his mouth; and of course, Anthony's dance moves. They all contribute to a big smile on my face!!!
Astonishing effort given by electric bass performance by Flea and Smith`s unplugged drumming style to mimic Giorgio`s Moog sound. Frusciante was also brave to scale a voice that is only reached by a few talented female singers like Donna. I give`im that. He was paying a homage and rendering honor to Donna, that`s it, there you go. Yet Flea and Smith are still able to display themselves as the masters they are. A decent scherzo!
I was there for this, it was my first and (so far) only time seeing them but when you’ve got the opportunity to go see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and James Brown (amongst others) in London’s Hyde Park in the middle of the summer then you go. It was a great day/concert.
This is amazing! All Flea needs is the key and he can just crank out that bass line like an absolute boss! John has an amazing voice and absolutely kills the vocals! Gotta love the Chilis, man. Also, RIP Donna Summer. The queen of disco!
Obviously they’ve played around with this before... but it’s still so impressive that John gives flea a third of a second and flea nails it first go. They were perfect for each other musically.
