"You don't ever have to be in a band with somebody that you don't like, just because they play drums or they play bass or something" I love John to death, and I'm hella excited he's back.. But damn, what a complicated dude.
I dont think he was necessarily talking about RHCP members but rather the long list of recording/studi artists hes worked with outside of rhcp. Not exactly an easy task building chemistry or liking the nature of everyones musical style. One of the things that made rhcp so incredible was their chemistry.
@@bumsuckaduck but it could be chad, flea,or anthony, cause josh in interview(after fired from rhcp) he said that john reach flea and the other member to apologizing about his past behaviour,so I think john in this interview said it could be aimed at rhcp members
@@07Kristin11 He quite literally says "these last 5 years after leaving the band" and talks about other musicians. It's a very open ended topic, definitely not just about RHCP, almost certainly isn't entirely. RHCP is a very crisp tight band, they have lots of chemistry but also John is a perfectionist so it's maybe partly about them too. If you know his work apart from the peppers, it outnumbers his contributions to the RHCP and features many many artists.
Actually, I think RHCP are going to produce themselves since I imagine JF doesn't want to work with a producer right now. Also, the Danger Mouse experiment didn't go as they expected. Before John rejoined, I was thinking that either Rubin or Andrew Watt would have produced the next record. Now, with Fusciante back in the band I think (and I hope) they're going to produce themselves.
I just try to not overthink this all too much. I just enjoy the brilliant music RHCP has released over the years. All the behind the scenes drama doesnt interest me
I mean, he was so young when he first joined. Then he went as far down as a person can go and being invited to play again was quite literally life saving, so he never really was able to find himself as an individual. So he left and spent years becoming a full fledged human and he's now ready to be within a band chemistry again. He had a lot of learning and growing to do, so he did. He told Flea and Anthony he was born to play in RHCP, he just needed to be John Frusciante for a while. I'd rather he be aware enough to know he had to step back, than him doing something he hated and potentially falling back down that rabbit hole of addiction. Which is what he did the first time and he nearly died. I'm glad he took some time, he obviously needed it.
