Hi John, I started on Covid last Monday too, tested myself cos I also had a soar throat and felt as if I am getting a temperature. I work with the elderly so I test regularly. For me it is the 3rd Covid illness. Last was July2022, only had a slight soar throat nothing otherwise. I'm only vaccinated once due to very bad sideaffects I had. My symptoms where very similar to yours,i had 38.6 ° fever though. I also like you, had a strange chest pain, sort of inside my chest or lungs, went on for 2-3 days. My head is still foggy and I am still positive. I have never suffered so much with Covid. I hope you recover fully and thank you so much for your honest and devoted work over the last years. My first case of Covid was last Thurs and still in recovery , I did go to the doctor because of such pain in my rib cage ,unusual pain throughout my body ,headaches , wakeup sweating in the middle of the night, lose of appetite , low grade fever ,4 days basically slepted and out of it physically ! My husband was sick several days before me , he had basically same symptoms and we both were tested for Covid , we never had any breathing problems or difficulties , some coughing some drainage ,after 6 days . Doctor gave us Paxlovid to take ,we decided not to take it and let our natural immunity heal us , I'm 67 and husband is 69 ,we've never taken Covid Vaccines . It hasn't been any worse than the Flu ! Similarly, I'm now on day 5 of a first bout of covid. Had final covid jab November 2021. I'm 68. Initially had to stay in bed for 36 hours and completely lost my appetite for 1 day. Had a low grade headache and felt depressed for 1 day. Oxygen level fine. Temperature fine. My main symptom is fatigue. I just have to keep lying down. Sometimes I feel a bit dizzy and nauseous. I have a mild cough. I think it will take a while to recover completely as I just feel so tired. However not as bad as the nasty bout of flu I had in 2019 which took weeks to recover from and which left me with some peripheral neuropathy in my feet.
I had it and was really sick for over four weeks. Four more weeks to get my strength back. Four more weeks after that to think clearly. It really was awful. Husband died from it at the hospital.
Dr.Campbell, as I said before; people are not used to be sick anymore and have difficulties to accept it. I just celebrated my 75th birthday and had Omicron in March 2022 which manifested it with only terrible mussel pain through my whole body and a little bit of fever and lasted for 3 1/2 days. I had the same symptoms as my son, he recovered in a week and due to my age I took 2 weeks to be my old self again. So there we are, I am not vaccinated so my own immune system had to do the job and worked very well. Hope you will be your old self soon.

My brother is 77 in Jan no vaccines. Healthy as a horse has had flu's so keep up the awesome work. He does take iv and quercetin When I was sick with Cov last March I took iv and boiled down ( grapefruit peel only ) to make a grapefruit peel juice ) I froze it and had 1 ice cube per day with hot water and lots of honey ( due to bitterness ) I could still get out and pick up things I needed so not totally fevered or unable to get about. I have a sore throat, some pain in ears, a bit of headache, some dripping in nose, no fever a dry cough!! Took some ivermectin, lots of water, vitamins, rest essential and healthy food. Pretty much back to 100 💯 percent! Hope you feel better soon John .

My son had pain in his shoulder when he got COVID a couple of weeks ago. He, too, had never tested positive until now (he is 24 years old). The shoulder pain seemss like what you were describing. Get well soon, Dr. Campbell. I treated myself with herbal medicines. At 78 yrs, it was really bad. Pnemonia, high fever, Bells Palsy. That was 2019 but been doing well since.
My kids came to visit end of 2019, son stationed korea...everyone one was sick 3 days after flying in(in a plan shred with people from main land.)..we became sick 3 days after visiting with them, a friend became sick 3 days after being around us...he was sick for 6 weeks...clinic couldn't figure out what he had...now we know...

I noticed when you have covid there's a window where you'll test positive. If you test at onset of symptoms it'll often turn out negative. But a few days into it like days 3 , 4, 5, is when I'll test positive. Edit: I also had that indigestion discomfort you described, headache, frequent bathroom visits, fever, disinterested in everything I normally like, husband had to whisper to talk to me, preferred darkness, very low energy, lower back pain, deep unforgiving persistent cough, strange smells and temporary anorexia. Unlike you, I tore through 4boxes of tissue in 3 days 😮💨 Glad you're doing better ❤
Oh, I see someone had that horrible pain I had in lower back but also stabby pains in ankles foot pain legs. I had the muscle joint pain last time I had Covid as well.

John helped us take care of ourselves, unlike the official health industry. I stopped visiting my doctor and the pharmacy in my seventies and use alternative solutions. My father just had c19 also. Exact same symptoms as yourself - especially the indigestion pain. Extremely low concentration and disinterest in absolutely everything. Oh, and he had such a very quietness to his voice and yes to the irritability 👌
Us and especially our two little ones (under 5) had the same symptoms as well.. the concerning thing to me, is the fact that as we re-contract these viruses, they become less damning to the body and more to the mind.

I’m watching this a little late John and I just wanted to say I hope you’re feeling much better. I’ve only had it once ( supposedly) and that was its first run but had no symptoms. My PCR was + , a rapid test at work said I was negative. I’m a nurse in a SNF. Had to be out 10 days. Each day I was called to see if any symptoms showed. It was about 3 months after getting my shot. I was always wearing my N95 mask. I can’t believe we have to contend with this pestilence year round! God bless and Merry Christmas 🎄

Previously we were warned to watch out for day 8 when c-vid could take a turn for the worse even if you were starting to feel better, maybe not so now with milder symptoms but something to be mindful of. John, thank you for deciding to share this, I really appreciate it! I just got tested positive today, being my 3rd day of feeling rather off. Since day one I was pretty sure that I had a low grade fever (because somehow, it bothers me more than an higher one), but I bought two different thermometers (my old one was somehow broken when I wanted to use it), and none of them showed it. I had almost the same symptoms as you did by day 3, even yesterday evening I felt so good that I thought that when I sleep it off over the night, I will wake up completely healthy. But I woke up with an even worse stuffed nose and that slight headache you mentioned yourself. The symptoms are completely different from the ones that I had with first covid this January. First time around, I had a high grade fever, I was sleeping all day long (like 14-15 hours a day) and had no appetite at all. Now I don't feel that sleepy, and even though I do not feel like I could eat a horse, my appetite is still pretty well. I hope to get over this one faster than the last time. I've not had covid (yet!), but the one time I caught influenza I thought I was dying. By day 3 (of 5) I was so incredibly unwell, I remember thinking that I'd quite happily pop my clogs for some relief from the dreadful symptoms. It makes me chortle when people at work say "I've got flu!" and carry on their shift with the odd complaint and sniffle. You CAN'T work with influenza. Period! When you get REAL Influenza, you know you've got it. Hope you carry on getting better soon John, you're a true gift to us who follow you. ❤
That's not true. The vast majority of influenza infections are very mild and only cause cold-like illness. You've probably had the flu many times and have hardly noticed it.

I had the same experience as you. Got ill with influenza in my mid 20's. I was so ill and in bed for a week unconscious mostly, then another two weeks feeling weak and ill. Since then I've had many bad colds over the years, some I couldn't get out of bed for a day or two but they were definitely not influenza. You know when you've got flu it's unmistakable and you don't forget it.
The general difference between flu and a cold (adenvovirus) is this: If you see a £10 note on the floor, if you have flu, you can't be bothered to pick it up. I had an adenvovirus RECENTLY for 3 weeks which knocked me for six. It absolutely FELT like flu: raging fever, massive and headache, runny nose, cough, lethargy. For the uninitiated, an adenvovirus is different from a a cold AND the flu. The ONLY true way to know the DIFFERENCE between an adenvovirus, a cold, the flu and covid is to GET IT TESTED! That removes any ignorance; and that's why John tested himself.
So glad to hear you recovered so fast. That is a heathy immune system. I recently recovered from what I think was COVID myself. The symptoms were the same with the exception of an extreme flu and headache which became almost unbearable. Taste and smell were.gone and still are not back. Always look to you first about anything COVID or health related.
Yes, I could relate to your symptoms. I had coved twice. Last year in July 2022, it started as chills one day, then the next day painful headache/eye movements, scratchy throat, coffee tasted salty, phantom smells of burnt pepper come out of nowhere, especially, when I was around a refrigerator or air conditioner, then finally the lingering cough for two weeks straight. But overall, I was fine. I managed to get over it well. During my illness I still went on my daily 2 hour walks, drink plenty of water, lemon-ginger teas, take all the recommended supplements (D, Zinc, C, etc..), plus garlic, elderberry, oregano etc. When I finally got over it, I felt fine. In fact, I felt great and my skin looked younger and it seemed to clear some of my ADD. I think it’s because it naturally inoculated me and I developed some kind of interesting health boost from it. However; I got it again this year in October. Same symptoms, but milder and faster recovery time. No biggie. Hope you get better soon John ❤
Hoping you continue to recover! The way you described your surprise at your apathy during the height of illness was amusing. It seems that anytime our immune system is taxed this way, our bodies know exactly where to allocate the body's energy. The reduction in higher level cognitive activity makes a lot of sense!
You and my adult son, Chris has tested with Covid this last week. Has similar symptoms, like a bad cold. He lives on his sail boat about 40 miles and a ferry away. I am packing up a care pkg, as mothers do. Including instant chicken bone broth, prunes, a sm bottle of Thyme spice. We make Thyme, cider vinegar, honey in a mug of very, very hot water, then just sip it. My Dad used whisky instead of Thyme. Both kill germs, but the Thyme is better for both of you. Batteries and good canned sardines and chocolate star Xmas cookies. Hoping this siege is just a memory in a month. Am so glad you are better!
