Internal dialogue has a value for using deductive logic to explore internal and external representations particularly in planning and problem solving.
Internal dialogue can also get in the way, in providing unwanted intrusion into our life activities, such as self criticism, self doubt or excited chatter when focusing.
The Tongue Drop Technique, from New Code NLP, is an on the spot intervention to quieten internal dialogue and by naturally anchoring this response, more choice is created with the internal representations in our mental map.
The process John outlines in this video is simple to follow and really liberating for those who experience excessive internal chatter, enjoy!
You can join the amazing John Grinder, on Sunday 1 May, for a live Q&A after Michael Carroll;s FREE Intro to New Code NLP, this is going to be special

Very interesting, I guess it works because when you are internally dialoguing, most people are actually subvocalizing, literally sending nerve impulses to the organs of speech including the tongue. And you can't do that when you are focused on relaxing the tongue

Interesting. Going into peripheral vision is another way to do this.

Right! I've studied Richard Bandler like a hawk. For years. Now getting to Grinder. He's very interesting. This drop method triggered my focus state as well.

@@bigjim5423 I’ve been following Bandler and Grinder for 20 years.. I found a Neuro linguistic programming book on the bus when I was 17. Someone left it in a seat apparently. When I sat down, I noticed I was sitting on something and it was a book. Best thing that ever happened to me.

It is interesting how many techniques have grown out of NLP.
