At nine years old, and still had such power... wow! Gotta admire Chris, he sure knew how to ride John Henry. He always treated John with the utmost respect.

I was so honored and blessed to meet the Legendary John Henry. He truly is one of a kind. They don't make 'em like they used to!! I miss him so very much.I'm grateful we have videos to keep his legacy alive. Generations to come will get to know this great gelding and fall in love with him too....
went to the horse park four times to see john henry.he ate peppermints from my hand.cigar was in the stall across from him.when cigar stuck his head out,john henry shot him a look like he was saying,"they came to see me!"cigar went back inside.iron horse that had personality to spare.cigar was younger and fit but john henry ruled the hall of champions.
They could have went around 1 more time and they weren't going to catch him. You can see his grit and determination in his body language. I think his foes knew it also.
