Premiere Scene's Claire and Anthony Bueno popped down to Londons Forbidden Planet to talk to renowned Hollywood Director John Landis, to talk about his new book Monsters in the Movies.
Discover the history of monsters in the movies as seen through the eyes of filmmakers Christopher Lee, Joe Dante, David Cronenberg, Sam Rami, Guillermo Del Toro, Ray Harryhausen, Rick Baker and John Carpenter as they join John in conversation. And if pictures do paint a 1000 words then the amazing 1400 photographs certainly paint a true picture of the incarnations to which the silver screen has helped deliver our thrills and chills!
Monsters in the Movies has been published by DK and is available in all reputable book stores.

This book has become one of my favorite October and Halloween traditions. I leave it on the coffee table all month and browse it when I'm in the mood.

I was just at the EMP in Seattle and they had a fantastic Horror film exhibit with interviews with Eli Roth, John Carpenter, and John Landis. That exhibit made me want to buy this book.

Monsters are metaphors. What we fear and how we deal with it. Brilliant stuff.

This guy is like the ultimate expert on horror movies, because he's seen a lot of the classics and probably grew up on them, and he's definitely seen a lot of the newer ones that have come out. Also from what i've seen, his Trailers From Hell segments crack me up.

@@opaljk4835 He has said he didn't know what American Werewolf in London is genre-wise because it's a horror movie but has humorous in it.

John I love your book! 😉I've had it for four years now and never get bored of it. I'm a monster fan myself, I've actually learnt stuff on it as well. John has a point about Psychopaths, they are the only things we should be afraid of because they're so realistic.😧

Absolutely! It is the real killers that are true "monsters". I love the classic horror films of the 30's and 60's because I know Werewolves, Vampires, Frankenstein monsters and living Mummy' s do not really exist, they are just based on myths and legends. It is the modern day serial killers and true life murderers that really frighten me. And the more realistic butchering and dis-emboweling of human bodies that is disgusting in today's films. Give me the old monster movies in a marathon and I love it...or modern day versions like John Landis has made with a twist of humor added in for fun. Also any monster film starring Vincent Price, and the Poe classics.

i loved this book.. but one tiny error: House of Usher by Roger Corman featured Myrna Fahey as Roderick Ushers SISTER not his wife which John Landis stated..

Oh I see a monster alright, it's John Landis, the man who was responsible for the death of Vic Morrow and two Asian children on the set of The Twilight Zone The Movie.

Gary Allen On the other hand, there is Chuck Norris. Probably the world champion of deaths on movie sets...

cfm marko Except if an unlimited number of over-powerful explosions distort both your vision and damage our helicopter... The main error was to have placed the helicopter so close to the explosions (and, BTW, why place the helicopter just over explosions at an angle where it would've been quasi-impossible to shoot your objective correctly). However, if you see the footage again, what you can see is improvisation and amateurish directing...
