John Landis on THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS 

One of the greatest movies ever made. Quite possibly the greatest script. Amazing movie.

Remember the character in DINER who did nothing but quote lines from this movie? There's so many to choose from: "You're an arsenic cookie.........I'd hate to have to take a bite out of you.", or "Sidney Falco, the boy with the ice cream face.......What's the matter, Sidney, your face, it's melting."

I agree with this evaluation. Extraordinary movie. One of the best of all time.

If you want to communicate that I character is screwed most movies would say say, "Steve Dallas is screwed/fucked/dead." This movie? "Starting today you can play marbles with his eyeballs."

Watched it the other night, I spent far too long trying to understand what was even going on. Now that i know what Curtis is supposed to be I'll rewatch it

At 2:05 that is Barbara Nicholls who should have gotten an Oscar nomination for her role. Sidney's lowest moment in the movie is pimping this poor girl who thinks she is going on a date with him.

John Landis belongs in jail.

John Landis is a self satisfied jerk. He gets names wrong and the cop says, come here Sidney I want to chastise you. Some dialog would’ve been nice

The first half is one of the great first halves of a movie. It goes off track when it focuses on getting even with the guitarist instead of JJ and Sidney at work in the night clubs and bars. The second half is really inferior to the first, and leads to this being overrated.

I like a lot of your films, Mr. Landis, but your commentary for the Sweet Smell of Success trailer gets a C-minus rating.
