Hey Johnny we at El Bethel Temple missed you a lot when you went off to college at 16. But now we are all seeing God has such a great purpose for you life. Do your thing "John Legend". We are proud of you.
Yassss for my singing Idol .... I have heard him sing this soooo many time and i have nvr let this song get to me like it has tonight ... I was juss going in with him!!! I won't complain!
@saintphillip amen!!!!god is gonna test us 2 see how strong our faith is...we gotta hold on to faith..if we dnt have faith then we dnt have god in our life..having god in my life is the best gift i could ever receive
Anytime I listen to this song, I can't but really remember what God has brought me through. Tears just roll down my eyes. God has been sooooooo gooooood to me.
My blessings have been many. This song brought me to my knees. I honestly do not know anything about Mr. Legend and I have never seen him before now. The message is pure even if Mr Legend is not.
I believe this song was orignally wrote by Don Johnson but was made famous by the late Rev Paul Jones type in his name with song title on this site and then you will see how it is suppose to be sung
@nolagemini I was anointed by this song you might not have got anything out of it but it was not because it was "jazzy" it was because you did not take the time to take all of this in and realized what it really means
I really dont like when people use the term "secular" no, he's not a gospel singer nor is he praying 24/7 but then again, who is? There is a big difference in being religious and having a relationship with God. All the people who have a true relationship with God & takes things for what they are, realize that this man was worshiping Jesus on LIVE TV!! No ones perfect, Lord knows I'm not, but I strive 4 excellence and I just want 2 please Jesus. I mess up but that doesnt take away how i feel.
@tokunbo868 1st off it was only an OPINION OF MINES.2nd I'm a supporter and fan.3rd I do understand everyone is unique in their own way, rather smooth like John or loud like Fantasia. Regardless all types of music boils down to gospel. The majority of a lot of artist come out of the church etc I just thought he would've gave off a lil churchy groove like some artist normally do no big deal.I'm glad you we're anoited and that's the thing as long as he reached 1 soul he did good.
What difference does it make if she's a "pastor's daughter?" People deny jesus everyday regardless of their background, or their parents affiliation. What about the other religious sects that "deny jesus?"
@garnett4mvp8 ok...lol. you said "best version" lol. I take it you don't listen too much religious music...I could get you you some pretty sick versions of this song. Then again, it is all up to your taste. Glad you diggin it though. Be blessed!
@bubbyj I never said their was something wrong with the way JOHN worships. AGAIN everyone is unique in their own way. AGAIN it's no big deal. In the spirit of JOHN LEGEND how dare you call my opinion narrowed minded. I never said God didn't like the song. I guess God is pleased with you judging me. hmmm folk today and to attack me over such song . you know what? I won't complain.
This is sick. But I have seen it done better. Check out Stevie Wonder's version at Luther Vandross' funeral. UN-BELEIVABLE. Much love to John tho you do inspire me BIG time.
totally agree...when stevie wonder performed this song at luther vandross' funeral he over sang it..it was still good...but tsome times the simplicity of singing the the song is just as good
[Verse1:] I've had some good days I've had some hills to climb I've had some weary days And some sleepless nights But when I look around And I think things over All of my good days Out-weigh my bad days I won't complain [Verse2:] Sometimes the clouds are low I can hardly see the road I ask a question, Lord Lord, why so much pain? But he knows what's best for me Although my weary eyes They can't see So I'll just say thank you Lord I won't complain [Chorus:] The Lord Has been so good to me He's been good to me More than this old world or you could ever be He's been so good, To me He dried all of my tears away Turned my midnights into day So I'll just say thank you Lord [Adlib:] I've been lied on But thank you Lord I've been talked about But thank you Lord I've been misunderstood But thank you Lord You might be sick Body reeking with pain But thank you Lord The bills are due Don't know where the money coming from But thank you Lord Thank you Lord Thank you Lord [Chorus:] I want to thank God Has been so good to me He's been good to me More than this old world or you could ever be He's been so good He's been so good He's been so good So good So good So good So good To me He dried all of my tears away Turned my midnight into day [Ending:] So I'll just say thank you Lord I won't complain
Beautiful delivery! So refreshing to be able to hear someone sing the lyrics of this song without oversinging and over coloring it with excessive runs. Sweet sound to my ears!
This is sick as F*!K. But I have seen it done better on one occasion. Check out Stevie Wonder's version of this at Luther Vondross' funeral. UN-BELEIVABLE. Much love to john tho you inspire me BIG time man.
He sounds great u don't hafta yell to get the point across.he doesn't do that..I love it both ways (karen clark)!! There's another video he sings it harder..this is the Oprah version.!..lol
this whole branching and division is the main reason why humanity won't grow...instead of being thankful that john legend is being USED by god to deliver this song to those that need it...its gotta be "he shouldn't sing gospel" and "he should stick to r&b"...this is the type of stubborn, warp, and confused mindset that's setting folks back...open your minds for once and accept the fact that maybe God has plans for people of all origins...and not just the "christian clubhouse"
He's kills this song!!! Very melodic, beautiful, simplistic, and the thing w/ this song is that people feel the need to scream it rather than to sing it so we can actually here the words... This is awesome
Singing this song 2mrw for a Dear Brother of mine who has past on. John u have just helped me relax into the mood of singing this song for his family & tribute 2 him;-) Thank U & Thank U Lord!!
Don't you all know that many denominational groups have negative connotations about African-American gospel music. Anyone can judge... It is healthier, more beneficial to society, and more Christlike to try to hear John's story through the song, just as I try to come to an understanding of anyone else when they sing gospel. The problem with many Christians today is that they are so judgemental and hateful, that they make church an unsafe place.
Some stuff is better left alone... leave Gospel ,Gospel, leave r&b, R&B... Some of y'all like this song because you still part of worldly things. Lol come outta here... This did not bless a soul but instead, reminded of a love song...smh.... Keep gospel , gospel. I promise if he would have song it, the tradition way they all would have been weeping for a change. Think about it. You can't fool REAL christains. :):) I'm not saying that it's a devil song, but respect gospel, and leave it like it
The one thing i love about John Legend iz that he never forgets where his roots came from. Some ppl will sit in judgement and say "Well he has the voice for GOSPEL, why wont he sing it" It's all a struggle and it's all a purpose. His talent iz something that iz anointed even if he does sing Green Light or PDA or Ordinary PPL don't look at him for that. Listen to his testimony, all these ppl all in his business but still yet ladies and gentlemen. "John Legend Wont Complain" Amen somebodi!!!
Nice song. Only in religious america this could be done. Can you imagine a popular european singer thanking the Lord in a major TV program? Hardly. God bless America, and may American keep clinging to their guns and religion.
Yea...he just sang it a bit too safe for my liking. It was a good enough performance, but not a memorable one or even one that would make me want to forward this video to a friend.
It's smooth...but he's playing it too safe. I don't like the fact that he's afraid to reach for certain notes...theres like a bar that he's not going above...but its all good.
