any song that does not fit the soul of an artist cannot prove that artist as being good or great.... sometimes , because the choice of the song is so bad that your first impression is the singer is not a singer at all!
They looking the way they look cause he just beautifully said and reitterated what bob was saying almost 50 years ago …. Rest in ital eternity brotha bob ✊🏼
Do we really have to kill the moment with this nonsense comments? Do you even know what kind of ceremony this is? This the Nobel Price awards, not bankers meeting. People from around the world get an award for a fantastic contribution to humanity, a contribution like Bob Marley did... this song is well placed in this ceremony and you all should have more respect when talking about things that you don't understand. Sorry about the tone but one gets really angry when seing these kind of comments from people whos best contribution to humanity is spitting out garbage like these.
I agree with you here...I don't think another human being anywhere can touch what Bob Marley had. It came directly from his heart with true meaning to people everywhere. He just wanted the entire world to be at peace with one another. I miss him so much, but his music will live on forever. A true legend!!!
@@gloriamitchell2376 Bob Marley, third and firts world superstar, what a legend..I can't explain with words how much I wish that he was around,I am here at 39 crying, much love for everybody whom read this message..
03:33, It is okay to cry. I cried listening to this in 2018. The lyrics are timeless. The biggest percentage of the world (probably not in that room) are singing "redemption songs" everyday.
To the people thinking this song is a beautiful and touching piece, imagine this is only the tip of the iceberg, the icing on the cake of Bob Marley´s musical career. This is mainly why he is my favorite artist of all time, every album he has ever made is original and incredibly solid, there is such a perfection about his music, he grabbed a simple concept and molded it into a magic and pure sound that punches the soul in many ways.
Oh my gosh! This rendition of Bob Marley's Redemption Song by John Legend is simply amazing; This brings tears to all eyes, no matter what the creed. Wow!
Hitting on the nail... artists like John Legend, Alicia Keys, Emili Sandé among others are the ones who truly keep carrying legacies for uprising & freedom like Bob did back then... immense respect always to all these incredible true artists.
Yah indeed them Marchant ships robbed Africa of its greatest we just been left with a bunch of dictators who rule with an iron fist, they rob Africa of its natural resources, they kill her children with unspeakable poverty tho we will forward we will overcome Aluta continue
John Legend has moved me with his voice and musical talent on so many occasions and this time is no different. He is most definitely a soul traveling from old times. I'm very proud to have him as a brother and I'm sure Bob is proud as well🙏
One of Bob's strengths as a songwriter was he knew that it's not just what you write it's how you deliver it...it's not just what you say it's what you don't say...he was human....
I always loved this song. I am not a woke liberal and quite frankly I don’t care if you are. But as a conservative I love this song and it is about history. When Bob sang it, it was amazing.. and I love legends voice and how he handles this song.
I had honestly not heard of John Legend before the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, but every time i hear him now after that, he makes my heart and soul break, and I love him for it.
Beautiful rendition of Bobs classic song. Couldn't help but feel it was wasted on that audience. Some of them looked so uncomfortable that it was uncomfortable watching them. Very telling.
@@jafar4marva I am with you on your perspective. 👍 to the Legendary John Legend: selection -👌 courage given the audience makeup, interpretation and delivery 👏
MC Arts and Culture the people who were responsible for slavery are long dead and gone, so these are not them. Watch those phantom enemies that tend to be created inside the head sometimes.
@@shaihasani6859 why would they be uncomfortable over something they never did and had no part of. The slave owners have already departed from this earth hundreds of years ago, never to be seen again.
John Legend !!!! Thank You for your Authenticity and Honesty to SING the truth. This isn't even america and these are the stiffest looking audience.............WOW. Beginning at 1:34 the camera is on her and she just doesn't know how to respond to the truth being delivered so heartfelt and pure.................without anger and protest. Bob Marley was bringing people together in a peaceful way and people were opening up...............................Story sounds way too familiar.
John you can sing the great Bob Marley song any time. You have done him justice with this rendition😘😘😍😍. Take it from me who is from the most beautiful island Jamaica where Bob was born. Thank you for honoring is song so well.
I like the original better, however its cool to hear this song done classically. The piano really sounds amazing the simplicity of it is a well needed listen for my brain.
I respectfully disagree. I love the Bob Marley version, but to me this version touches the soul in a more profound way. Reggae is so intoxicating that you get wrapped up in the beat of the music . John Legend’s version you really get caught up into the words. Either way you can’t go wrong
Powerful, powerful, powerful indeed,. The incredible powerful performer and artist , Bob Marley. We lost another truly authentic and beautiful soul. RIP xxx😇😇😇😇😇
Old pirates, yes, they rob I Sold I to the merchant ships Minutes after they took I From the bottomless pit But my hand was made strong By the hand of the almighty We forward in this generation Triumphantly Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever have Redemption songs Redemption songs Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery None but ourselves can free our minds Have no fear for atomic energy 'Cause none of them can stop the time How long shall they kill our prophets While we stand aside and look? Ooh Some say it's just a part of it We've got to fullfil the book Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever have Redemption songs Redemption songs Redemption songs Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery None but ourselves can free our mind Woh, have no fear for atomic energy 'Cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time How long shall they kill our prophets While we stand aside and look? Yes, some say it's just a part of it We've got to fullfill the book Won't you help to sing These songs of freedom? 'Cause all I ever had Redemption songs All I ever had Redemption songs These songs of freedom Songs of freedom Beautiful!
