My favorite John Lennon solo LP's . I bought a few of his solo LP's right after his murder. I was amazed to discover that they were Canadian Capitol pressings ! I am told some some of the unused material showed up on Menlove avenue
I have a compilation and his first album on cd. I have the first album because it was cheap and I had read it was a great album. In 1972 there was the release of studio and live material released on the double vinyl Some Time in New York City. Part of the live album was recorded in New York with Yoko and Frank Zappa and the Mothers. John took the liberty of changing the track Scumbag to the title Jam Rag and not including Frank's name in the credit. Frank was not very happy about this. The reissues in this century have corrected this. The track and other songs were released on a live compilation by the same version of The Mothers in the early 90s. I have the cd and love it apart from Yoko's wailing. I cannot remember what I felt at the time of his death as I was only 18 at the time. I was a little stunned when Michael Jackson passed away, but the person I was most upset about was David Bowie.
It looked like an American pressing. Interesting notes in the names you mentioned: Shelley Yakus became Tom Petty's engineer and co-producer. Jimmy Iovine became a greatly in-demand producer like Tom Petty and now a billionaire as co-founder of the BEATS brand with rapper Dr Dre when they sold BEATS to Apple.
