Hello to all the Beatles fans, I recall when Cosell interviewed Lennon it was big news. I don't think that I ever heard the whole thing because the media doesn't give us all of anything. I have both of the records he mentioned Walls and Bridges and Rock and Roll. Really interesting and entertaining to hear both of them talking to each other at ease and from October 74 , I was 15 then. Thanks again friends.

I used to have it on my original Beatle Stories channel. It's a classic so thought I'd upload it but I did a little editing. It is an amazing interview, Gregor, he sounds so happy :)

@SheilaLS I love Howard's quote at the end, Sheila... "You're an interesting man and a proven genius". Very true. He really does sound happy here in this period, especially if you compare it to some interviews in 1980.

I've heard this interview before but wanted to hear it again because it is probably my favorite John Lennon interview. A lot of that has to do with Howard Cosell. Howard was an extremely bright man, a lawyer before he got into broadcasting. He played the role of heavy for Monday Night Football (MNF), the guy people loved to hate and it's sad because over time it wore him out. I recall an interview Frank Gifford gave where Howard came to some kind of MNF reunion not long before he passed away and Frank said he had become very bitter. But here, you see how smart he is and I think that brought out the same quality in John. The questions are intelligent and Howard doesn't step over him while he is responding. Later, John was invited to make a guest appearance during a MNF broadcast in Los Angeles. Ronald Reagan was already scheduled to be interviewed during that game and the producers were worried some sort of fireworks might ignite between the two of them because of their political differences but they got along fabulously. Anyway, thanks for the repost. Like I say, this is probably my favorite, John at his best. No Beatle bashing, no over the top politics or social commentary, just smart talk between two intelligent guys. It's hard to believe John has been gone longer than he was alive. RIP John and Howard, I enjoyed listening to you both as I was growing up.

I hope you are feeling better! OMG, I am so grateful to you for this!!! I can't swear to it, but I don't **think** I've ever heard this before, and yet, I'd bet money that I watched your original channel! Anyway, this is JUST FANTASTIC! I agree about how good John sounds here! THIS was the "side" of him that I loved so much.....although I also loved his cheekiness, of course! And Howard was a really great interviewer, and asked great questions, and never interrupted! Brilliant! Thank you again for your super hard work!

Hello there, Ma'am. I nearly missed your comment then. I'm feeling 90% back to the old me, my voice is still hoarse and my brain a little foggy but apart from that I'm good and I hope you are too, Miss. And you're more than welcome for the upload, plenty more to come 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️❤️

Miss Astro.. I'm looking for people I like/know and trust to be wrenches in my chat for when I do lives. I would be honoured if you would like to take part? I also won't be offended if you don't want to. I've asked you, Maryann and Sheila and I'm going to ask two more people.

@@Beatlestories I think I would enjoy that!! However, I don't think I would be the a very effective mod, given both my really poor vision, AND my cognitive issues. 🤔

She got him through "this god awful loneliness". But was he truly happy? He was in a drunken haze most of the time and getting into fights and being kicked out of places etc so I'd say not completely happy with her. His musical output at that time was brilliant though.
@Beatlestories
@Beatlestories Год назад
@@staceykeeley4219 He does seem really happy here though especially considering what was going on around him at the time, I try not to comment on Beatle wives and girlfriends because who am I to judge. I have another 2 interviews coming from the same time period and in one he sounds really really happy and the other really really sad :)
@staceykeeley4219
@staceykeeley4219 Год назад
@@Beatlestories Yeah exactly, sometimes he's happy in interview, sometimes not so much. Personally I don't think it has anything to do with whomever he might have been with at the time. Everyone always says he was happier with May, or happier with Cynthia, anyone except Yoko because she is generally universally hated. He coulda got with Hitler and they'd all be shouting how happier he is with Adolf rather than Yoko.
