This video is to help you choose ypour accommodation, by giving you a true overview of the John Lester accommodation
Although we are pointing out some not so good points, the accommodation Serena has, the Platinum room, (at £119.50 a week) is good. Could do with an upgrade but still more than acceptable
In Salford campus there are 2 main student accomodation for first year, and other students. Peel Park, a relativily new accommodation complex, and John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts. These are 2 housing blocks next to each other.
The main differences in the rooms are firstly price. Peel park you pay a premium for. The John Lester Court and Eddie Colman Court are lower priced, but have existed for a lot longer.
All come including WiFi, electric, Wardrobe, a bed and a desk.
However the size of rooms do differ
The lower priced ones are just larger enough in both accommodations
In 2020 the cost of peel park for their bronze, smallest rooms, £133 per week
In 2020 for John Lester / Eddie Colman the bronze, smallest room is £99.50 per week
The Peel Park Diamond room (and platinum room) which are the largest rooms, (which aren't that much bigger in my opinion) is £157
The John Lester Diamond room is £125.
So if you went for the basic, Bronze rooms,
Peel Park would be £5586
John Lester would be £4179
saving over a normal university year £1407

Peel Park £6594
John Lester £5250
saving £1344
The room Serena is in, is currently £119.50 per week, compared with peel park £157.18 per week. Saving £1575 this year
However Peel park is in the university grounds, and John Lester / Eddie Colman is a short walk away
The Peel Park accommodation facilities and decor are up to date
The others are basic rooms and facilities.
I cant confirm for peel park, but the diamond in John Lester has 4 Plug sockets, they are 2 times double sockets within 24 inches, 2/3rds of a meter of each other.
You can have 3 wifi devices, and 3 ethernet cabled devices
but in the room, you are getting basic accommodation. We needed to bring an extra chest of draws, and stacking small plastic draws, so there would be enough storage
