Watched this man as kid ,the very defination of cool, the man was never fazed on a dartboard weather winning or losing ,hence the nickname ,the greatest in my eyes.
2003, John toured Australia and I was emcee at one of the events... I’d only lost my dad 4 days earlier and he was expecting to come along too... anyways, the night went well and John was presented with a boomerang trophy (which I had made actually) to commemorate his exhibition in Wollongong... I then had the distinct pleasure of a leg of darts against this great man... he was such a gentlemen that he have me a look at my116 outshot before he pegged the leg... #ForeverAThoroughGentleman
I remember John Lowe my favourite player. Loved and played darts all my life. Saw his 9 dart finish on TV and it was fantastic. Even though I have played at a high level for forty years or more, I have never done a nine dart finish.
He was my favourite player when growing up, and from watching a few videos of John on RU-vid tonight, I've just realised that my throw is based on his. The same time on each dart, same speed, same flow. If only my aim was as good 😅
