I think they liked each other .. you see it in the bodylanguage .. crossing your arms to protect yourself .. both do .. but there is something happening for sure :)
Wow it's funny watching him try to be his usual " I'm gonna be a dick make fun of the interview " routine, but he seems to really actually enjoying himself or yes, maybe people are right, I think he's into the check I mean she is pretty hot he might she might be his style... you know
Just when you thought that you've seen all the fun and awkward interviews with John Lydon, this! I love it when he throws his scarf over his head and crosses his arms when she starts up again in German. Good stuff!
*'organised chaos' as he describes music is just a different way of saying what music is: organised sounds - first thing I learnt in 'music' at school*
Daniela is the best interviewer I have seen! She had to contend with John, remember everything said and translate at the same time. And she asked good questions too. Well done.
Yes, agreed, definitely more openly vulnerable. I actually preferred PIL to the pistols. For me they had much more emotional resonance, and the music was far richer. the pistols was a political statement, and a bold one. But PIL had longevity and created something beautiful. He's a talented guy either way!
Total nutcase. Love John. A great character and speaks his mind. I never found him rude, just truthful and sometimes the truth hurts. I also thought he was quite suitably reserved and unusually gentle with this charming young lady. She handled him better than most and actually got him really talking for a change.
Johnny always mentions the leather jacket as the quintessential boring stereotype of the punk image. But even during the Sex Pistols, he rarely, if ever, wore a leather jacket. It was usually Sid or Steve wearing one. His fashion aesthetic, already then, was more creative and interesting imo. He looks amazing here, during a time when hair metal bands and spandex were dominating popular music culture.
Sid and Steve wore the jacket to hide their track marks. I hid mine for 10 years so I know from experience how awful that addiction is. By the grace of God I was able to get the needle out of my life. I would be lying if I said it was easy. I still struggle with the temptation but I love living life rather than just existing only for the next fix.
Johny really is a whole character, his hair wild no care in the world, always honest and blunt. Straight to the point, you have to appreciate that in an artist nowadays
I accidentally got onto a random kick tonight of watching interviews with John Lydon... first, a couple from 77 that were downright combative, then the one (i think) couple years later where he's on Tom Snyder's... samebthing there... now this one for Mama's 10 years later and he's I guess still kind of doing the same combative routine, but his nice side and agreeable side comes out of this interview. So I'm going to keep watching them as the year goes on because I'm curious when it happens that he's finally changes from not wanting to talk about the Sex Pistols to promoting them and doing a reunion with them and how that all goes down
To me he comes across like a wounded child trying to hide and protect himself with a sharp and playfully obnoxious exterior. He says he's all about honesty but I don't believe this is the real John. I've never seen him relaxed, smiling warmly or at ease. I wonder how his childhood was.
Just be yourself, you are the only person who is you and no one else, so run with it. Surprising how few actually realize that in today's watered-down world. Yes, even so-called 'punks'.
By the way,he's one of the most interesting and influential type of persona on my behalf as opposed to certain nitwits screaming out for affection and adoption ..
She did a great job switchibg languages, respect! John is a legend, and perhaps most interviewers will stay clear of him, unless they ask the right questions to avoid a roasting! I respect him more now than decades ago because he stuck to his unique philosophy and attitude - Respect Mr. Lyden!!
Lydon has McLaren to thank for giving him a career & he played a character in the Pistols & not himself & he's still playing that character o dont know who he's trying to convince more about being honest the public or himself lol
Never understood why Lydon never fixed his teeth in the 70s and 80s...he was a handsome dude and really cool looking but the fucking teeth really ruined the image
no one says that every new form of music that comes into business, every fashion, whether it's punk, rock or anything, always follows the Masonic lobby guidelines, which every year turn out new fashions, new groups, to convince the masses to be against the current system ..... then there are the characters like John Lydon, who probably really believe in their art, but in reality they are doing, consciously or not, what Freemasonry wants: to go against every Christian teaching to keep people away from Jesus ... I remind everyone that the Masons hate Jesus and worship Lucifer ... it seems like a fantasy, but it is reality!
Anyone who dresses up for an occasion looks dodgy thirty years later. I'm sure your jeans with the designer holes at the knees will be laughed out of town in 2048. :)
When will someone finally ask John......."John....what is it about you and your *hair* ?"...... All that mumbling about being "sensible" , but you make it impossible for us not to picture you ,everyday ordering your subjects to "surprise me this day with an even more ridiculous hairdo"..... On that subject John's not more different than other image seekers......The last time he looked truly great was during the first Pil album..... These days he seems truly confused ..being very anti drugs , crying about Sid , while bowing to king beer.... *and* the Queen .......
No one asks him because it's pretty obvious what's going on with his hair. If you're a fan of John's it's even more obvious. Only someone who isn't impressed with you would ask you something like that...."hey why do you wear that shirt?" "and what's up those shoes?"
It's not about critisism, just a little bit of good natured pestering , which John himself does often enough. It's rather remarkeble that a character like him who's so anti fashion victim ,or weekend 'punks" ...spends so much time in coming up with a new extreme hairdo every month....rather like Boy George.....It seems he did consessions to showbusiness demands to keep the public wondering "what in heavens name will John Rotten come up with next ?"...
@@PAULLONDEN I found it more fascinating that he seems to have bought Thomas Anders' ( Modern Talking singer ) old suits in some elite second hand store. I wonder if this just was to take the piss or to step up to the popstar establishment he used to dislike so much 10 odd years ago ( back then )...The hair I do like...a lovely mix of Boy George/Cindy Lauper and the rave scene....
the subtitles are even *worse* than the interviewers 'english' NB: the fella who "loves all music" walked around with an 'I HATE PINK FLOYD' t-shirt. Isn't that slightly opposed to his love of all music attitude ... (regardless of his protestations he actually *adores* the Sex Pistols being mentioned at any opportunity - if they're not brought up, he inevitably does it)
You are right, however, I'd like to see an english native trying to talk in german to, let's say, Rammstein, would be similarily bad if you find one capable...Don't you reckon? And don't forget it was shot for a german audience....and it is the 80's...you should watch some movies in german translation...it would give you the creeps...though they have improved here a lot over the years at least with the bigger productions...
She gave him kudos over the cover...He dismissed it as unimportant...Childish petulance...This guy would disagree with his own reflection...He is everything he pretends to hate!
