Absolutely enchanting. I saw John many times in the 70s, moved to USA in '80. I play his music on my radio show here in Sonoma Ca often and so many people have discovered him. Thanks for the video.
If you have ever loved someone with all your heart and then as the light fades with all your will this song says it all. And when you journey through all the new relationships it still speaks down the days. " If I ever took another woman I was screaming for you, If I ever took another woman I was dreaming of you.' The only cathartic truly cathartic song I know on intense love.
If it wasn't for Phil Collins I might not have known about John. Introduced around 1980. Somewhere Over The Rainbow really shines. Thanks Phil and get well soon.
John Martyn was a genius. He covers so much musical territory with such grace and power. He can be, at one moment, raw and violent, but also, as here, so smooth and cool.
Stunning song & video, John was a genius, saw him many times in concert & he just kept getting better, his passing was a huge loss but his music lives on.
If I ever took another woman I was in my need for you If I ever took another woman I was bleeding for you Every day is another day to fly And every day is another way to cry. I get so low in this life I'm leading I can't tell right from wrong I get so deep in this book I'm reading I don't know the facts from a song But every day is another day to cry And every day is another way to fly. If I ever took another woman I was screaming for you If I ever took another woman I was dreaming of you And I won't beg, but I will have to try To stop you if you tried to say goodbye. If I ever took another woman I was trying for you If I ever took another woman I was crying for you Cause every day is another day to cry And every day is another way to fly.
I distinctly remember trying to explain how important this song was to me during a random dinner date in the early 1990s. To which my date replied "boys don't cry". My response was "men do". There wasn't a second date.
what a great idea ian, and interesting to hear john Martin & Phil collins singing together.Just saw it when we at a rainy day today in our nneighbourhood. So about every sad that happends in our life we dont have to take it too seriously cause time blows that away. And after rain always comes sunshine...best wishes my friend.greetings to all your friends:-)
i am reminded of a survey/poll taken in one of the music papers in the late 80s ; the category was "most eagerly-anticipated band comeback ( except XTC ) ; no entries listed". XTC were responsible for what was termed 'perfect pop' , but they were so much more than pop music. If there were a new category called "Musician most desired for reincarnation" I think the category would only have one serious contender !
Lovely song and accompanying video; they both complement each other well, like Phil and John's vocals! Thanks for posting. The video looks very like Slava's Snow Show, am I right?
@@norwegianzound Gilmour is not heard on this version/mix but he does pop up in his distinctive way on the release I have. I think this is a different mix of the same recording.
Oh my! Okay, so chardonnay and youtube don't mix well. I think I deleted someone else's comment in error trying to delete my own. I'm sorry. btw..this song evokes such emotion and you have done a fabulous job with the video and showing that!
