I like Assassin and I understand why he may not want to sing it live now. The song is about his carefree sex life. Since he has grown and matured, he does not want to be reminded of that period of his life. Songs bring up memories.
I am way late to this party but I am a "fall asleep reader" too! I am also a great reader with a master's degree in Educational Psychology. I had great grades but it was torture! I have started listening to books on audibles! IT WORKS! Auditory input Rocks! By the way I have seen you twice! Once in Grand Rapids and once in Detroit (Clarkston) I have been your fan from the beginning because no one can turn a phrase like you do!!!!!! Your lyrics make me think and I respect that!
john mayer is my hero i can relate to almost every song and will always be a fan! mostly because of the respect he earned to get that sleeve and the balls to go through with the elbow full color😮 see you in Raleigh my man peace and love!
rvz77 well there you go. Your first mistake was thinking that you had thoughts anyone else wanted or needed to hear.. get back to us when your taste in music isn't up your ass out back in the dumpster that you live in. And no, I don't have any spare change you could have.
My daughters name is Olivia and when she first heard your song she just wanted to hear it over and over and dance! Thank you for all your music! Edge of Desire is the BEST!
Did anyone else notice the bug that appeared out of nowhere around the 29:20 mark? It crawled around John's right shoulder for about 10 minutes. I was hoping someone watching live would tell him.
Twenty Foreplay ...The hairs on my arms stood up when I saw that...wish I could have flicked it off and stepped on it. Hoping it didn't crawl into his shirt....yikes!
Mr. Mayer, I don't think you'll actually read this but if you do I just want you to know that Still feel like your man was great. I wish the whole album was on par with that song. I wish you'd make all your music with the john mayer trio. You have money and success and nothing to prove anymore and that makes it great for you but bad for me. Enjoy your success brother, you deserve it for sure. What you've done for the music industry is great and I can't deny that. The theory of the starving artist holds true with a couple exceptions for you. From a strictly selfish stand point I wish you were still starving but I can't say I'd do anything different if I were in your shoes. JOHN MAYER TRIO PLEASE CONTINUE!!!!
I think I miss this John even though I was not following during this album release at the time. It is neat to watch this. He still had hints of his accent here and seems so real. Now when he speaks it is so polished and refined. I still love his music, but he just feels real here in comparison to 2024. Thanks for sharing here.
Hey John...Can't wait to see you live in Vancouver Canada April 19th.Taking my 16 year old daughter who is a huge fan (as am I) & we hope you can squeeze Queen of California into the set. Thanks!
This whole album is about getting over heart break and we know who it's about, I enjoy John as a musican, I have to say we both are unlucky in love so I can relate to this album.
No Such Thing. Your Body Is A Wonderland. Daughters. Gravity (breaks me right down) Say. Perfectly Lonely. Why Georgia. Waiting On The World To Change. Half Of My Heart. Dreaming With A Broken Heart. Heart Of Life. All my favs. John Mayer and one other artist are the only ones that have their own playlist in my phone.
Dear Marie BR I appreciate the post, as usual. I love Assassin, but totally understand and respect his feelings about performing it live (for now). I just love that he takes the time to "talk" to his fans. He's a rare gift.

Books on Tape. Fiction will broaden your ability to portray different perspectives. Shoot, now my heart is aching for you John. For Real. Please try a book in some form every now and then. I would be happy to read to yall myself for Jerry's sake.
You are the fucking man John, every thing you say rings true for myself man it's actually hard to believe, like the thing about reading.Though i'm not rocking the world as you are. Perfect music...
Did I see you in the Zumba class dancing right at the back few years ago?! I turned back for a moment I saw a guy in all women's class who kinda looked uncomfortable 😄
Thank you, John for your contribution of who you ARE inside tti the world. I get so much good cheer ABC's inspiration from listening to you think out loud. My entire journey for 6 years has been guided by you and your music. #samadhi "yours in yogic health" Bekah 💚🧘♀️💫
Hello, Leanne Doherty here from the North of Ireland (Northern Ireland), I love your honesty, really loving and enjoying your talent. My gorgeous partner who is a real talented guitarist, is a massive fan. I actually got into your music when we visited Amsterdam, whilst having a typical experience whilst there. Now a massive fan!! If and when you come to Ireland, please come to Derry. (NORTHERN IRELAND, LONDONDERRY) . Also come for breakfast
When someone is boasting a joint I always tell them, it's not a microphone mother fucker, pass it along, 420, 420, then I sing this 420 melody for grateful dead
I attended a concert of john back in february, he mentioned Rosie was just a silly drunk obsessed character he made. Marie was a person who john met at a church, apparently he fell in love immediately, it was a relationship he felt was very genuine and sincere since it was developed before he rose to fame. Years later, John found Marie while he was browsing facebook and noticed she was married, the encounter was really emotional for him. Eventually leading to him writing the song :') really bittersweet Many believe Marie his first girlfriend (the same person who he wrote about in Your Body is a Wonderland) Source (Rosie): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6bpoqTBnFWk.html Source (Marie): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ixFgB6Vgghw.html&ab_channel=JohnMayerUSA
that song is most difficult for me to play after neon and edge of desire. he used some genius notes some of which he had used earlier in his 1st ep inside wants out and in roomfor squares too .he used in Eddie's attic in the starting and he played that song live in berklee in 2009 I think. Its one of the best song by trio in battle studies
Samuel Sánchez I don't know we're the best fans, but I know he has a lot of fans in Brazil. We love him so much. Thanks God his tour will be here in next October.Come to Brazil🇧🇷❤
The song seems to be about his sex/ love life at the time. "You get in, you get done and then you get gone. You never leave a trace, or show your face, you get gone. " He doesn't wanna remind himself of that life he was living, where he would kind of just take advantage of being John Mayer. He's trying to move on and I guess this is a way of him pushing forward
Henry Green no yeah I understand and I respect it. but it's just sad because that song was the start of my love for him and his music. till this day assassin is my absolute favorite song and John Mayer is my favorite singer and musician. I been waiting for him to sing this song live in his world tour but sadly he won't.
teeahtate literally I've watched all of them on youtube.. but I wanted to hear him play it recent... see if he would throw alittle spin on it or not but hey.. maybe one day.
