I personally appreciate his music more than his looks. Idk if you have listened to his full albums but not all the songs are pop. He has branched out a little with some tracks. Either way I love his voice, songs and his outlook on life. He's a great person thanks to people in his life like John. Sorry for my little rant there😅
I started listening to Shawn thanks to this video he honestly I think a lot of people appreciate him for music too. Plus, even if an artist is good looking, you’d never listen to him just because of that, it just makes stuff more appealing

Why do you need to compare them? Both have different talents and attack when it comes to music. Instead of bashing, why don't we just appreciate their, like what john mayer said, "over the top" performance? I love this. I've thought several times that I've heard JM influences in Shawn's music and seeing them together is awesome. Shawn probably didn't sleep that night from the adrenaline. 💚
When Shawn sings a verse on his own, I just cry. This is like my favourite John song and Shawn being my favourite singer (John is my favourite guitarist), it makes it so emotional
I dont know much about Mendes, but I've heard some of the people that inspired him and looks up to, and thats very telling of him as a person. Having role models like John is going to take him far and expand his talents.

Mendes is talented sure but The Mayer is an all time great guitarist and songwriter. James Harden is a "great player of this age" but he ain't Kobe. Just saying, there's levels to this shit.
