Paco's solo on Spain is one of the most beautiful solos I have ever heard, and one that makes me shed a tear even now at 53 years. So emotional, and so right that Spain's best guitarist ever plays the solo on a piece that was dedicated to this wonderful country by another genius (Chic Corea). PERFECTION!
I was blessed to see the trio perform in a small venue at the University of Chicago when they came through in the early 1980’s. Definitely one of the best musical experiences I’ve ever had, and I still remember this song as a highlight of the night.
He had a cut on his finger he was wearing a dressing which he had to eventually discard because it was getting in the way of playing. He jolted with pain a few times during the show. Full show on this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i1IJcmxOa2k.html
@@edcolins5498 I would be the last one, who consider music as „athletic“! But guitar playing can be in regards to speed and technic! This is only understandable, if you study jazz, classical and flamenco guitar for decades and tried to figure out both plectrum and picado techniques, keeping focus not to shredd. Hardly anyone will be faster in a tasteful choice of notes than those two (maybe exept my teacher Harry Pepl+ in his way, because he was original two) and by the way: my comment wasn‘t meant that serious! ;-)
WTF are you saying? 5:22 is one of the most epic guitar moments ever dude. Even Paco is worried about John and the smiles when he unleashes... These three (Al not present in this gig) had the most special thing someone has ever has done in guitar because they were feeding each other, they were competing but also brought the best out their partners. They elevated one each other to god levels. Who else has done this extreme guitar with no backing band, no singers, no effects, a modest light show... And reach and make joy to so different audiences around the world?
