If war doesn't make sense, then we have to explain why Americans wage war. It's not based on rationality: we need deeper, psychological theories that account for unconscious factors.
There's no deeper psychological reason or unconscious factor. The reason we are fighting pointless wars is because some very influential get enormously rich off of them. They have now become so rich that they have constructed a permanent state of warfare depositing money from your pocket and mine into theirs in perpetuity.
March 24, 2020. @16:15 Re : loss of credibility. My memory tells me that the US did lose international credibility after our defeat in the Vietnam war. If I am wrong, then please feel free to correct me. Other than that, I have high regard for what John Mearsheimer has to say.
We are not secure when we have wide open borders, he never mentions this of course because that would deflate his argument. So much for critical thinking on his part!!
