....hearing him talk about the documentary film of COMPANY by the Pennebaker brothers....hilarious. Seen many, many drag queens do their overblown "Elaine"s.

Hah yes! PS I don't mean to be 'that guy', but I guess I will today. DA Pennebaker was a singular guy, and then The Maysles Brothers (David and Albert) is who you're thinking of who were brothers. Which is fair, they both (all) created documentaries of that era and were quite prolific in doing so. Maysles' had Salseman, Grey Gardens, and ofc Gimme Shelter. And then DA Pennebaker did Dont Look Back, Monterey Pop, and Ziggy Stardust and many others.

@@Pun2404 thanks. I'm familiar with Pennebaker's (singular) work....think "someone", perhaps on Theater Talk said "Pennebaker Brothers"....and it's stuck in my head from many years back (without correction from anyone!).

"I'm embarrassed to be on stage and I'm nervous" I feel like this comment is kinda like what Bill does in monologues and interviews, speeches and stuff. The "I'm so nervous. That's not a joke, I'm so nervous." thing he's said on both of his monologues at SNL. People get a laugh out of it and Bill and John get to release some of the anxiety they might be carrying, so I'd consider it to be a win-win.
