Emmy winner #JohnOliver (#LastWeekTonight With John Oliver) tells IMDb he'd like to co-host with "Game of Thrones" character Jon Snow, and reveals his painful experience of sitting on the Iron Throne.
From the title, I assumed he was talking about the British newsreader. For those who don't know, John Snow is a news presenter in England who could not be further in personality from GoT Jon Snow
All nice, but more importantly is she nice to be around? Is she a great partner? Do they make a good team? If that is the case he is a lucky guy and she is a lucky lady Looks are a bonus but not the most important thing.
He had to ask her what they watch. My impression is that as soon as John Oliver had kids he became the dad that falls asleep in front of the TV after 10 minutes then startles awake when someone changes the channel.
IIRC a very similar phrase is actually used in the books. The throne is not supposed to be comfortable if you want a leader that cares. Like Jon Snow who definitely didn't enjoy being in power, he was wary of the swords' edges.
In the UK, there's a TV host (Channel 4) called "Jon Snow" So he probably made that connection because of him, maybe he even meant to make a joke like that, but then realized nobody in the US knows the UK and if he explains it, nobody cares
So, I'm here watching an interview with John Oliver and I'm spending all the time looking at his wife, who is not only stunning but is an Iraq War Veteran. I don't know how anyone could hate John Oliver... even if he weren't an amazing host on LWT, he seems like a genuinely nice guy who persuaded that amazing woman to marry him. Heck, even if you're Republican, could you seriously hate a guy who's married to a veteran? John Oliver... we are not worthy!
J Silva How do you know she likes dick? Do you like dick? Why are we talking about a random stranger’s sex life anyway? Holy f@ck I hate humans (especially those of the DudeManBro variety) 🙃
A good sense of humor is very sexy, so I've been told. She's the prettiest medic I've seen and I've seen many. While I love Oliver, I hope their kids look more like her and have their father's sense of humor.
@@gianniaggouri8534 They met when he was still just a reporter for The Daily Show, they met when covered the RNC, 6 years before his HBO days, and only 2 years after his first arrival on the US
He's idealist and smart comedian who doing investigation in his show for sole purpose warn people of what's wrong with the system. Meanwhile she's beautiful and badass medical veteran who is now dedicate her life for veteran right. They deserved each other 🥰
British nerd comedian scoring super hot wife thanks to showbiz status: Reminds me of the marriage of Peter Sellers to Britt Ekland. It seems that Sellers, was incredibly jealous of Ekland because he knew that his wife could easily find someone with similar wealth and status but *also* much better looking. So for all those who are 'envious' of JO, do remember that behind the glitzy hollywood façade of such couples, there's often dark sh*t going on that we can't even begin to fathom.
That she-makes-me-ashamed-to-be-American moment when the idiot interviewer doesn't know there's an actual news personality in the UK named Jon Snow and that Mr. Oliver was NOT referring to a damn Game of Thrones character but was too polite to correct or mock her on television.
Jon Snow (the journalist) was not a nominee at the 2018 emmys. So instead of beieng ashamed to be American you should be ashamed of your listening comprehension.
You don't even need to be funny. Just be rich, high status and use your showbiz connections to be constantly exposed to beautiful women. It's no coincidence that top 0.01%-ers always have people that help them get exposure to showbiz and modelling. That said, for the women themselves, it can sometimes be an advantage if the rich/high status guy they are dating is also funny because then it provides them with great interview material: "So what do you love about your husband? - Ohhh he cracks me up all the time!". That way they profile themselves as 'deep/non-superficial' people. It's classic self promotion really.
Also it’s not like she’s a showbiz bimbo. She’s an army medic veteran. She’s the one who sought him out after they met at the RNC. He wasn’t famous at all at the time. You know most women aren’t superficial and greedy right ? x)
They met in 2008 and got married in 2011. Last Week Tonight didn't start until 2014. He was working on the Daily Show at the time, but he'd only been there for two years. I don't imagine he was really all that rich at the time - not marry-him-for-his-money rich. He just has intelligence and a good personality. There's no doubt she's super hot, lol, but there are other factors to attraction. He's super adorable in his own way. Idk. Just my two cents.
@@thompsonfj1 Even more interesting than that is that I'm pretty sure she's not just a "pretty face"... he's too smart to marry a dumb blond "bimbo" or trophy wife. It's a case of two smart people finding each other interesting, and that's the best situation anyone can aspire to.
if you read how they met it makes perfect sense. from Wikipedia: "Oliver has said that they met at the 2008 Republican National Convention; he was doing a piece for The Daily Show and Norley was campaigning with Vets for Freedom. She and other veterans hid Oliver, the other correspondents, and the camera crew from security" they care about the same stuff and he wasnt rich or anything back then.
John Oliver is a 10 on the personality scale. So even if appearance wise they may not be conventionally in the same league, he has that and no one would call him ugly (except him).
