@@richardp1156 Ever thought about digitising them and putting them up? Do you remember his ' Euro' nights (long before we had the EU) I've tracked down very little of the brilliant, bizarre stuff he used to play.
I will always feel so sad of him leaving this panet so damn soon as I wasn't able to listen to him in his heydey because I'm from Basque Country, Spain and of course it wasn't impossible for me to listen to him live...but since I was 14/15 years old and I listened to Hatful Of Hollow from The Smiths (full of Peel Sessions recorded by the band) I've been enamoured with the sound of those sessions, his voice, with the bands he discovered to the world, and with everything he did as a broadcaster and as a person. To the extent of having myself a program in a free radio since 2004 (the year of his death) and I try to live by his code and celebrate his love for music every single day osf my existence Long Live John Peel, Inimitable and eternal
The care taken in putting together a programme shows what we are missing on radio today. Nowadays they just push a button and the computer runs the show. Wherever you turn the dial you're tuned to radio bland.
John Peel gave the BBC ,so-called, "Street Cred" ! They've used this to give the youth of the World,et al, the impression that the BBC are believable/ honest/etc.......!

A hint of what the BBC thought of Peel: after he died, they never tried to replace him with someone similar. He just didn't fit in with what they wanted.

CONTINUED - So he had affairs with fans, but this fan who claimed she had a baby, was in fact 15. He didn't know, he didn't ask questions and he was careless, because she produced a baby. At the end of it, he didn't rape or abuse young girls like Jimmy Savile. Plus John Peel moved on with his life, got married to Sheila and had 2 sons and 2 daughters, plus 1 grandson, while he was alive.
john peel's shows were like boxes of chocololates... youd never know what youd get. but good stuff most of the times... the best that was new on the market. Ok also some crap sometimes... but worth for all the diamonds he dug out
Well first, John Peel was married to an american girl, she was 15, but it was legal in some states of America. Plus he didn't know at that time. Also he split up with her and he moved back to the UK. When he moved to the UK, he was technically married, but split from his wife who was living in America. "hometown of Liverpool"lol..John Peel is a woollyback. Grew up in the same town i moved to out of Liverpool. Kinda funny how that works with people from Cheshire. They are only from Merseyside when it suits them :) Nothing against John personally though
