I got one last week and I can say: This guitar is fucking amazing. The neck feels perfect, really thin and confortable. The sound is really loud and tight, very easy to get a good tone. I love it!

The problem with this guitar (and the newer JP models) is that the circuit is 100% active: it won't work without battery. Also, his tone is getting uglier and uglier with the years... in this video, it's particularly bad... just compare it with the mystic dream JP6 video, which was recorded in the same day with the same equipment... it sounds way better.

Aren't the pickups passive? Only the pre amp is active

nishad nadkarni Yep, the pickups are passive, and the circuit is active... but the pickups are routed to the circuit in a way that it only works actively, not passively, ie. without the battery there's no sound. If you don't believe me, just contact EBMM support and ask them.

+ipojuca22 Are you talking about his clean, or his distorted tone? In either case, I don't see how you can fairly compare the sounds in the 2 videos. In the JP6 vid his tone is slathered with effects (save for 4 seconds of strumming with the Piezo engaged), with LOTS of phaser on the dirty tone, and chorus (or possibly phaser) and delay on the clean. Where with this video, there's only some delay on the dirty lead tone and nothing at all on the clean. So maybe it's just the sound of the effects that make you like it better? Personally, I can't stand modulation effects on a distorted tone and much prefer the videos in this series where the dirty guitar is either dry, or has just delay on it (like the juicy sounding boosted lead tone in this vid, which I really like). I actually think the very best tone is in the Sterling JP60 video. The rhythm tone he has when playing "Pull Me Under" is great.

+ikilledsifodyas I think both tones, clean & distorted, are becoming increasingly ugly as the model progresses. I tested the models myself... newer ones have a "honkier" tone, a frequency unpleasant to my years. The one I chose to buy was the first JP6. And you're right, these demos are drowned in modulation effects, a really bad choice for tone demos.
