I was there at that very concert. And It was the most emotional thing that ever happened to me. Thank you John for touching my soul ! Greetings from Argentina!
@@mattsoden5890 Lol this is John's moment, he's soloing while Jordan is "supporting" with chords, JP's performance there is what you remember, that's why LaBrie praises John after this and not Rudess, JR is amazing we all know that, but it wasn't about him, that wasn't his moment.
It must have been amazing.❤I saw them first time ever in red bank NJ 4 years ago almost after 20 years of listening to them in Mexico and Germany finally I came to USA and saw them.
They're fucking retards. seriously. JP is a guitarist i simply respect because of his ability to give the song just enough technicality and feel without going overboard either way.
Don't forget the beautiful complementing by the man Jordan Rudess. This is hands down one of the most soulful musical pieces I have heard in my life. Thank you God for this wonderful band!
I'm new to dream theatre and now, I'll start listening more closely. All of these people are astounding musicians. All of them. Soooo sweet and very touching. The guitar gently weeps, still.
this is why i consider petrucci to be amongst the gods Vai and Satriani ................. like those two gods, petrucci can relay different kinds of emotion on the guitar. it's not about speed and all that, but emotion ................ just like this one ............ whenever i'm angry, i listen to this piece and suddenly tears are falling down my cheeks .........
I know everyone is commenting on the nice emotional feel of this solo, but I'm going to give my kudos to the thick, creamy, rich, pleasant-sounding CLEAN awesomeness of Petrucci's fast alternate-picking with the neck pickup (especially prior to the engagement of the wah).
IMO DT is the most versatile rock band out there. they can fuse with classicals and pull of some astonishing musics also they can put things on fire with heavy metal and can make you cry with heart warming melodies. They are like everywhere. You won't see such music craftsmanship in many leading bands.
This is the most insane thing I have ever heard played on a guitar. Amazing! Unbelievable. If each of us could find what we are this good at, this life would be a phenomenal experience. Thank you for showing us what is possible!
Been looking for this video since 2013. Gives me a sense of peace and inner strength at the same time. Played French Horn in orchestra and felt the joy and power of playing Mahlers 1st. This solo tops all rushes I felt....ever! Beautiful, Powerful, Soaring
Once in a blue moon you come across something that just takes your breath away. This did it for me. Ive owned the Luna Park DVD for 5 years, but or some reason Ive never seen this solo until today. Maybe because even though I play guitar and I LOVE guitar, stand alone solos just don't do much for me, unless they are really different and really special. And thats what this is. In fact, I think this may the pinnacle of rock guitar. I thought I knew where he was going, but when he sat down and kicked into that incredible chord progression, I was moved to tears. Thank you John for this. This is where 100,000 hours of practice gets you people.
Peaceful and beautiful !! I heard diffrent guitar solos from this guy. Other guitar players like EVH play the same routine over the years, again and again. Petrcci is always up to date.
i will never understand that . how a guy who wrote for example a beautiful solo like the one in lines in the sand or the tasteful guitar work in peruvian skies can be perceived as a cold technical player
I feel , a bit of sorrow, for anyone who hears , & hopefully listens to this live performance, and , NOT , be touched , within themselves. This piece, has it all summed up , and all realms in between, regardless of age, music genre preference, cultural, religious and or , political beliefs. You, me, & all else have realize, that there is something , that all of us human beings, have in common, - emotion / feelings.
Everytime I play this, it just moves me to tears, so many emotions, in a good way. Reminds me why I'm still alive and that there's still beauty in life, no matter how hard it is to take even a single step sometimes. Thank you for the inspiration, John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess. The beautiful musical bond between the two of you is almost tangible. ❤
even this post is 6 years old...so..so felt with feelings. 2 amazing musicians - 2 amazing guys. Just want to be there, be with them. This peace is just a history in time of music. You seriously touched me. Great great performance!
