Dream Theater is at their best when they write the album in a short amount of time. Train of Thought is my favorite album from them, and it only took a few weeks to write

Petrucci is such an awesome dude. Maaan... Hes so humble.

Talked with Petrucci himself once at a meet and greet, and he was very calm and nice person. I was super stoked to see everyone of the band of course because i had been admiring them for a long time. And so I got johns signature on my first guitar. He told me to do what I do and keep playing and i still follow that advice and wished me good luck. That was the turning point for me and i got serious with practising the arts of the guitar.

I really liked that as a fan he asked one of those questions that people go on and on about - Mike Mangini vs. Mike Portnoy, and I loved Petrucci's answer. Personally, I love Mangini's playing. I love the heavy, deep snare sound. I just love Mangini as a personality as well. The next question could have been about James' voice, but he didn't go there. Personally, I don't really care because as singers get older their voices age as well. James can handle himself and the shows are great, so I don't really care, but of course fans will be fanatics! The back and forth with regular casual talk, with album talk, with gear talk was good. I know he loves Dream Theater, but good to see a good interview. Last point, I hope Petrucci gets into the RU-vid deal without going bonkers in it. Stick to the guitar and writing badass music. That said, do more RU-vid interviews because there is a huge world and fanbase that can be opened up via RU-vid and social media in general. Maybe DT will take some of those newer bands that dominate RU-vid out on the road and give them more exposure because I would love to see a bill with Tesseract, AAL, and Dream Theater. Nice interview!
