The fact that John survived such a high speed crash without a scratch is a testament to his engineering design and manufacture, he's a true British speed hero in the same mould as Campbell, Nobel and the others, thanks for posting.
This man is a legend, I've seen him run his supercharged Vincent at Brighton speed trials held in September probably not have it this year but go see him next year great day out

never underestimate the capabilities of an inspired mind with bordom time and what he cant build in his garage. i particularly like the kill switch on the roof lol. Old bikers dont give up rideing, they just build crazy stuff and scare the hell out of the mrs . ;)
It seems that there’s too much vibration for John to be able to see where he’s going. On the first run he was veering right towards the sea. On the final run he was over compensating left. But cones are deadly to bikers in any scenario, even on normal roads. So why were they used. John may well have accepted responsibility for the crash, but this whole thing seems to lack proper professional planning and preparation. Unlike the Utah salt flats, Pendine is a sand beach. Therefore all they needed to do was use a few hundred very weak plastic sticks inserted into the sand, with vertical flags to mark a course. If they had, they would be much easier to see. Also, this crash could have been avoided. This isn’t rocket science. The only calculations that needed to be made were: What are the risks of the bike hitting a cone? A. MASSIVE What are the potential consequences? A. CATASTROPHIC It’s all very well eulogising John as a hero and comparing him to others. But unless lessons are learned here, this was all in vain.
